5 Reasons Why Going to College With Your Sibling Is the Best

I never thought my brother and I would end up attending the same university. In fact, I tried my best to apply to colleges as far away as possible from him. Unfortunately, we are cut from the same cloth, and much like him, I couldn't resist coming to Florida State University. Before my brother left for college, we had spent every single day, for sixteen years, with each other. The first day we were apart was the day he left for school. He was someone I always looked up to- whether I wanted to admit it or not. Two years after his departure, my moment came and I had to choose where I would be going to school. I ended up chosing the same school that my brother was attending, and these are the reasons why it was one of the best decisons that I have ever made.

1. You will never be the lost/clueless freshman

My brother showed me the ins and outs before I got to college, so that I knew where to go to party, eat, or study. He also showed me which dorm was the best. I was never that freshman that had to ask for directions and would never be found in the club with a lanyard and school ID around my neck.

2. You get to party with your sibling

Nothing says "I love you" like inviting your sibling to pregame with you and it's always a good time when my brother and I end up at the same club.

3. Their food is your food

We all know that college is THE struggle and sometimes your food supply is looking weak. If you are lucky enough, your sibling will have a full fridge and pantry for you to come raid. If you are even more lucky, your sibling will have a meal plan that you can use whenever you want. Unfortunately, this also can go the other way and your sibling will come take all of your food.

4. You won't make (some of) the mistakes they made

Definitely did not make any of the rookie mistakes my brother made- like buying a meal plan for full price more than halfway through the semester after realizing you don't know how to grocery shop. I also didn't buy all of my textbooks before the semester started, just to find out that my professors didn't even utilize the book.

5. You will never truly be alone

As an incoming freshman, you may not know anybody on campus and it will take time to make friends. With a sibling at the same school, you will always have someone to hang out with and to give you guidance. The bond that my brother and I have built at school is greater than I would have ever imagined and I always know that when I'm feeling down or lonely I can have him come to my rescue.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
