If someone asked you when breakfast is over, what would you say? According to most fast food chains, breakfast is over at 10:30. Although typical breakfast may end when morning ends, breakfast food is wonderfully delicious and perfect for every hour.
1. Eating breakfast makes you healthier.
*insert lecturing doctor ordering you to eat breakfast*
No, they actually know what they're talking about! Skipping breakfast lowers your metabolism and makes you cranky. You'll be craving everything from steak to chocolate by mid morning, and you'll have a hard time concentrating and remembering things. Which is a tad important since we're usually attending class in the morning… We're here for an education, and we should all want to perform well in our classes. Eating breakfast daily is something that can help you mentally and physically.
2. It's the most heartwarming kind of food.
That chicken salad with pita chips might be good for you, but it will never make you feel as good as a hearty breakfast will. The goal is nutritious and delicious, but we all know breakfast food is tastiest when it's sinful. It's food that makes your belly do somersaults in anticipation.
Perhaps the feeling of love that breakfast gives comes from childhood and waking up to the smell of the kitchen. Whether it's store bought cinnamon rolls or a decades old family recipe, waking up to comfort food is something that can't be beat.
3. Breakfast food has to do the most work.
The meal that starts your day sets the tone for how that day is going to play out. There's a slim chance you can effectively get anything done before noon without some sustenance. Breakfast gives you the energy you need to get through the day.
Breakfast is statistically the most important meal of the day although most people skip over it. It's easy to understand that we're in college and might not have time for a full meal before an 8 a.m. lab, but yogurt and a granola bar can be downed in five minutes flat and will save you when your professor's monotone is making you fall asleep.
4. Breakfast is the easiest meal to reinvent.
Have you ever tried to count how many different ways you can prepare an egg? Let me tell you, it's a long list. You can eat an omelette every morning and never get bored because there are so many variations. Eggs can be put on anything, bacon is sometimes always necessary, and there are specific drinks that are for breakfast. I have yet to meet a hangover that can't be cured by a mimosa or Bloody Mary, and my afternoon cup of coffee is the best pick-me-up in the universe.
Fast food chains have had great pushes in changing the way breakfast food is looked at, from serving the classic favorites and also creating all new delicacies. Have you heard of Taco Bell's AM crunch wrap? Heaven that is hands free, my friends.
5. Breakfast food is not meant to be enjoyed only in the morning.
What about people that work weird shifts? Their breakfast might happen at 4PM. Is there anything more delightful than a chocolate chip waffle drowning in syrup at 2AM? Highly doubtful, especially when you're in college.
If eating breakfast in the morning makes you happy, imagine what it can do at all hours of the day. As a child, breakfast for dinner was always a party, and this carries over to adulthood. This is something that one fast food chain may be starting to recognize, and we thank you, McDonald's.
Breakfast is beautiful in so many ways, and it's a meal that is often undervalued. Breakfast food isn't tied down to early mornings, and it should be appreciated all day long!
