5 Questions I'm Not Prepared To Answer At Thanksgiving Dinner

Family gatherings for the holidays have their ups and downs. It's nice to see everyone especially those relatives you haven't seen in forever. However, there are always those relatives that hound you with questions they are inevitably going to ask. Here are some questions you been avoiding answering all year.

1. Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend yet? This is the staple question every relative asks at every family gathering. They are patiently waiting for you to bring a significant other so they can ask them a million and one questions too.

2. How's school going? You have to decide if you want to be realistic and say how you are drowning in homework and papers and balancing school, work, and a social life. But you usually end up taking the easy route and saying it's going well.

3. Do you have an internship/job yet? Growing up is hard and no one wants to do it. Of course your relatives want you to succeed, but they can be a bit pushy about it and might not realize how hard it is to land an internship or job.

4. How are your grades? You would think once you enter college you wouldn't have to share your grades with everyone anymore, but that's false. Luckily, there are no report card your mom can whip out, so if your grades aren't looking too good you can slip a little white lie.

5. Have you gained weight? You can always count on grandma for being blunt and pointing out your flaws. But yes, living off of a meal plan that consists of fried food and sweets has taken a toll. Plus stress eating over being stresses is the go-to, and going out on the weekends can do some damage too.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
