We all know that as summer nears, motivations slows. No matter how much you think it won't happen, it probably will. All those plans and daydreams about the summer months might not actually come true. Here are a few of the most common:
1. "Let's go on an adventurous summer road trip!"
It sounds amazing, right?! Until you remember that requires a lot of planning and a lot of money, both of which you lack.
2. "I'm going to be healthy and get fit!"
We all say it. It’s a constant struggle.
“I’m going to go on a run!"...
...You say before you realize it’s hot enough to bake cookies on your car outside.
“I’m going to be a gym junkie!”...
...But who really has the time for this when Netflix is always whispering your name?
3. "I'm going to go to the beach and get really, really tan!"
You have that image in your head. That flawless, golden skin color. In an ideal world, you’d be that carefree, beach bum soaking up the sun…but in reality, you’re sitting at home with skin color equivalent to sour cream. If you’re anything like me, when you do go in the sun, your skin quickly changes from that cream white to tomato red (the struggle of a pale person).
4. "I'm going to hang out with all of my friends."
Right as school is finishing up, you excitedly make all these elaborate plans with your friends about the adventures and dates you will go on together. But those plans almost always fall through and you end up hanging out with two or three friends the whole summer.
5. "I'm going to work extra hours/get a summer job."
Ahhhh, the dreaded summer jobs. While they pass the time, they're not always the greatest. Motivation to get a job or even keep one is a struggle in the summer.
Even though most of these things may not get done over the summer, that's okay. That's what makes summer, well, summer. Don't stress if it's not grand and full like the movies. It's a time to unwind from chaos, relax, and take your time. Enjoy it. Make the most out of the fun days that you do have. Because before you know it, fall will be around the corner demanding all your attention.
