Being nestled in the heart of Missouri, Columbia has great outdoor parks, trails and ways to take in nature. With spring starting earlier this week, the weather will warm up and the rain will become a distant memory. So why not plan a new adventure for your Saturdays?
1. MKT Trail.
Whether you enjoy biking, running, or leisurely walking with friends, the MKT trail is the place to be on Saturday mornings. From the Forum Nature Area to Stewart and Providence is just a two-mile jaunt. And then back makes four miles total. Overall, the MKT Trail is 8.9 miles long, but parking lots, benches, creeks, and running right into downtown make this a beautiful trail any time of the year.
2. Rock Bridge State Park.
Just outside of Columbia city limits, Rock Bridge State Park contains eight trails with varying terrain and lengths. With lush green
3. Stephens Lake Park.
A few blocks away from campus is Stephens Lake Park. Two trails surround this spacious lake. The inner loop is 0.6 miles around the lake and the outer loop encircling the entire park is 1.7 miles.
4. Mizzou sporting events.
With MU being so close to campus why not take in a tennis match, baseball, softball game or even watch a track meet? Most are free with up-close seating and plenty of energy for everyone to get excited.
5. Eat outside downtown.
When all the outdoor trails and parks are packed, there is always the option of eating downtown. Many restaurants now have patio seating and Campus Bar and Grill has rooftop seating that features an impressive view!
No matter where you decide to spend a Saturday in CoMo, don’t forget the sunscreen! With many different options, everyone is sure to find something enjoyable!
