In today's society, many of us are overweight. Everyone has an ideal weight, which is where BMI comes into play. If you are overweight or obese healthcare provides give you a goal to work towards. You may be told to lose 10, 20, or 50lbs to be considered healthy. When you get to that ideal initially you may be to caught up in the negatives to appreciate your achievement.
No longer wear the clothes you love.
You spent years careful selecting clothes that you feel confident wearing. Your wardrobe no longer looks good and your self-esteem is nonexistent in your old favorites. Shirts look baggy and pants fall down to your ankles. Sweatpants that can be tied tight enough are kept for PJ pants, but that's about it.
Need to get new clothes.
Shopping for new clothes is a must. Fits and styles that once looked amazing no longer do. You need to try everything on to make sure the fit is right. More importantly, you need to take this time to reinvent yourself and wardrobe. Get the clothes you feel amazing in so you can forget about your old favorites.
You don’t feel as grounded as you once were.
A simple breeze may knock you over. Constantly trying to plant yourself firmly when you friends shove you when their mess around. Occasionally you might fall down by mistake, but hopefully, some nice sole will help you get up.
Just because you lose weight does not mean you are stronger.
You may look fantastic. Now that you weigh less it might be harder to pick up heavy objects that you once could throw around with ease. If you are not as strong you do not feel empowered.
None of your insecurities go away.
Mental you are the same person. Overall you feel healthier and can perform strenuous activities. Your body looks different, but you are still generally stressed, depressed, and anxious. If anything you are more self-conscious because people are either constantly congratulating your achievement or have come to the conclusion you must be seriously ill.
