It is the holiday season once more, which means it is time for Christmas movies. Christmas specials are what make the holiday season so much fun. Every year they bring joy into our homes. These five movies should be a must for you this December.
Everyone remembers the first time they saw their favorite holiday movie. For most it was when they were a kid and the replaying of that movie brings about a nostalgia that can’t be beat. That is why we cannot wait to watch them once more during the holiday season. Not only are these movies great for us, but also they are amazing to share with others who have yet to experience them. These five movies will make your December one to remember.
1. "Elf"
This movie is a classic. Will Ferrell provides an amazing performance as Buddy the elf. In the story all he wants is to find his real father and connect with him. Hilarity ensues from there as Buddy tries to fit into the real world after growing up in the North Pole. The laughs are what make this movie so special, and I know every year I cannot wait for when this one is on TV.
2. "Christmas Vacation"
We all know what it is like when Christmas does not go as planned. This holiday classic provides laughs throughout as Clark Griswold, played by Chevy Chase, is trying to give his family the perfect Christmas. However, anything that can go wrong does, which is entertaining to see. This movie is great, because Gus’s dream of a perfect Christmas is what many people want this holiday season.
3. "A Christmas Story"
Ralphie is like any normal kid at Christmas time—all he wants is to get the perfect gift. In his case, all he wants is a Red Rider B. B. Gun and he will do anything to convince his parents to get him one. What makes this movie so special is that we can all relate to a kid who wants that one gift. We have all been there, so it is like watching a story of ourselves.
4. "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer"
This movie may be old, but it continues to age well. It doesn’t need fancy technology or big name actors to make this holiday special great. Instead, the story of a misfit Reindeer just wanting to find his place captures the Christmas spirit perfectly. It seems like everyone has seen it, but that should not stop you from going back and watching it again this holiday season.
5. "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
Let it be clear that I am not talking about the Jim Carrey version from 2001. The older cartoon version was about as perfect a Christmas movie a person could ask for. The Grinch finds himself hating Christmas and tries to take it away from the town of Whoville. However, he finds out Christmas is not about just presents and decorations, but really the spirit of coming together.
If your favorite movie was not part of this list, I am sorry. There are too many Christmas movies to choose from, so some had to be left out. I hope you enjoy these five movies as much as I have and of course, Happy Holidays!
