With the beginning of the fall semester in full swing, life has begun to get a little more hectic as our summer schedule has been replaced with homework, classes and, of course, tailgates that you just cannot miss. But have no fear, many before you have gotten through this time of year as their stress levels were also at an all time high. And let’s just say your freak-out-meter is seconds from hitting maximum freak out as your professors hand you yet another syllabus filled with a rigorous academic agenda that you’re about to endure for the next 14 weeks. Well, it may not get any easier, but here are five inspirational quotes to keep you moving forward and staying strong this semester. Spoiler alert: These quotes are also from some incredible fictional characters, so enjoy!

"Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light." – Albus Dumbledore The Prisoner of Azkaban

Even when you feel bogged down by exams and unwritten papers, there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. You can do this!

“I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It’s when you know you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do.” – Atticus Finch To Kill A Mocking Bird

Life isn’t always easy, and there are some battles that have to be fought, whether it’s a tiff with your friends or an argument with a professor. When these things happen, keep your head held high and have a steady mind. It’s how you handle yourself in these situations that really matter.

“Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.” – Tyrion Lanister A Song of Fire and Ice

College is about discovering more of yourself, but also don’t completely lose who you are in the process. Be proud of the person you are becoming and love the person you are.

“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” – Winnie the Pooh

It’s true. You are amazing! Even when you don’t get the grade you wanted or worked so hard for, don’t ever think of yourself less than.

We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.” – Lord Darlington LadyWindermere’s Fan

**This is actually one of my favorite quotes of all time, and written by one of the best, Oscar Wilde** College is tough, but keep on keepin’ on and stay hopeful, optimistic and find the beauty in even the most difficult of situations.

Have a great year!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
