It's that time of year where all of our responsibilities have decided to catch up to us at once. Deadlines have approached and our lives have spiraled out of control. Finals are right around the corner and there is not enough caffeine in our daily cups of coffee to get us through this week. With that being said, I don't remember the last time I organized my room.
My room is the only escape I have from a world of responsibilities and I've neglected it once again. All I see is a pile of failed outfits stacked on my chair in the corner, freshly washed clothing waiting to be folded in a basket in the opposite corner and shoes scattered across all areas of my floor.
Why did I let it come to this point again? Why haven't I learned my lesson? I can't be the only one who is in this situation. During the time I could have been organizing my room, I've decided to research the most effective way to approach this situation of a mess and here is what I've gathered.
1. Acknowledge the mess in your room.
Yes, I see you mess. Thank you for the reminder.
2. Understand the mess in your room.
Really understand the root of the problem. Why is your mess so out of hand? What led to this point? What can you do to prevent the mess?
3. Take a step outside of your room.
This is the time for you to take a breath. A deep breath in, a deep breath out. Gather your thoughts. Collect yourself.
4. Close the door to your room.
You just need a little more time to, you know, compose yourself.
5. Walk away from your room and never turn back.
Close that door and never look back. You don't have time for this! Run!
