If there's one lesson I've learned from making mistakes, it's that I wish there was a way to take them all back. Okay, so, maybe not all of them. Mistakes are what help to mold us into who we are, after all. However, it definitely doesn't hurt to dream of ways that we could get ourselves out of the humiliating situations we constantly find ourselves in on a daily basis!
The following is a list of 5 humiliation savers that need to be invented if they haven't been already, as well as a few of the ideas I have on how we can go about implementing them.Though they may seem a bit strange at first, these inventions are also somewhat (if not entirely) practical. Who knows? Maybe I'll even be the reason why they come into existence one day.
1. A "green light" warning sound
This is so you'll no longer have to be startled by people honking their vicious car horns at you when the traffic light turns green, but you're just too busy looking at or texting on your phone to notice. Drivers, this would also be a way for you to free yourselves from those annoying drivers who keep you from getting where you need to go because they aren't paying as much attention to their surroundings as they should be. In regards to its design, I'm thinking there would be some sort of a sensor on the front of everyone's vehicle that would be able to detect when the traffic light changes from red to green. The driver would then hear a soft warning sound on the inside of their vehicle to indicate that it is their turn to continue driving.
2. A rear car horn
This would be the perfect way to get back at all of those impatient drivers who just can't seem to wait a few seconds longer for you to feel comfortable enough with moving safely back into traffic. It would have the same sound effect as a regular car horn, only it would be located at the rear of your vehicle instead of at the front of it. That way, you'll be giving those impatient drivers the exact same shock of hearing that loud beeping sound that you've been getting from them all these years.
3. The pop-up warning "Are you sure you want to 'like' this picture?"
Okay, so maybe this isn't something that's necessary by any means, but perhaps it wouldn't have to pop-up every single time you decided to click the "like" or heart option on someone's Facebook or Instagram pictures. Maybe it would be something that would only appear if your account didn't recognize that you and that person had been interacting with each other very often on that particular platform.
4. An alarm deactivator
Inspired by my younger brother's tendency to sleep through his agonizing alarm while waking and keeping me and other family members up in the process, this timer would function to deactivate the alarm if the sleeper somehow ended up sleeping through it for more time than he/she had initially expected. Yes, it would be very similar to the "Snooze" button, but at least we'd all be able to get some sleep after about 5 minutes of hearing a continual alarm sound that would only cease to exist if the sleeper would wake up.
5. Merge Assist
This definitely sounds like something that has already been invented, but I'm going to vouch for it anyways. One of the experiences that I absolutely HATE when it comes to driving is having to merge into traffic hoping that everyone else will stay in their lanes and not just decide to sneak from behind and pass me all of a sudden. This invention would help to alleviate that worry (and even more annoying car horn sounds from occurring) by signaling to the driver that it is okay to merge into traffic. Once a driver's car signal has been activated, a sensor on the side of the vehicle would put itself into action by determining whether or not the driver would have enough space to switch lanes in the direction indicated by the signal. If the lane that driver is looking to switch into is clear, he/she would then hear a soft warning sound from the inside of the vehicle to indicate that it is finally safe to merge.
In the process of writing this article, I realized that most of these inventions have to do with cars. On the bright side, however, at least you'll finish reading this article with somewhat of an appreciation for my slightly weird but creative mind!
