Music is such an important aspect of my life. I'm constantly walking around with my earbuds in and looking for new music to listen to and share with other people (Hence the number of playlists on my phone). I love discovering new artists so, I decided to compile a list of five of my favorite songs to date and why. Be sure to check these artists and their songs out!
1. NAO - "We Don't Give A"
This song literally gets me dancing anywhere and everywhere. It doesn't matter where I am. I am most likely going to start dancing because this song is everything. NAO's voice is so smooth and the way that her vocals and the beat of the song mesh is incredible.
2. Chloe x Halle - "Happy Without Me" (feat. Joey Bada$$)
Chloe and Halle's voices are so angelic. I believe if I could describe what angels sounded like, they would be Chloe and Halle's voices. This song is so relatable and is uplifting despite the message of the song. Overall, this song is one of my favorites from their new album that just released last month titled: "The Kids Are Alright".
3. Hayley Kiyoko - "What I need" (feat. Kehlani)
This song is incredibly infectious. The beat along with Hayley and Kehlani's vocals is everything. This song is from Hayley's newly released album titled: "Expectations" that speaks to many of her fans who feel underrepresented as far as relationships between women.
4. Jhenè Aiko - "Ascension" (feat. Brandy)
This song is so calming. I like to listen to this song whenever I'm riding in the car on a long road trip or just before bed. In the song, she asks a lot of questions such as: "What do you do it for? What are you running toward? Who do you do it for?" This song, in many ways, has helped me to remember that things will get better if I'm going through a tough time.
5. Chloe x Halle - "Everywhere"
Is it possible to mention two Chloe x Halle songs? Their album is just that good. The best way that I can describe this song is that it's exhilarating and the beat immediately gets me hype. The song itself is about attracting wealth and manifesting that it will happen. Personally, I love this song and the message is so relatable.
