As a college student, funds are tight. You are always looking for the most cost-efficient things to do. However, there are some common food places nearby that fit the bill. AUC students frequent these places because they know they'll get a decent meal for a pretty reasonable price. Here are those top 5 food places:
1. American Deli:
Founded in the South Dekalb Mall in Atlanta, American Deli is known for their delicious wings. They have various flavors of wings as well as sandwiches to satisfy your cravings. There is one located right down the street from the AUC in the West End Mall that you can catch the shuttle to or walk to. You won't regret trying it. Warning: It's addictive!
2. Waffle House:
Waffle House is an icon of the South. It is open 24 hours, 365 days a year. The quality and portions provide a great value for their money. Of course, they are known for their delicious waffles for reasonable prices. This is another go-to place during a late night of studying or hanging out. Plus, there are so many in the area near the AUC.
3. Sarpino's Pizzeria:
If you're looking for good pizza at a good price, Sarpino's is your place. They have no delivery fee and cheap prices, plus they're open until 4am. This is great for those long night of studying when no other pizza places are delivering. Sarpino's doesn't stop at pizza, though. They have spaghetti, alfredo, and other various dishes.
4. Cookout:
Cookout is another luxury of the south. Founded in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1989, they have taken off to create multiple chains. They are also super affordable and nearby the AUC. Their menu consists of anything you can think of. You are able to create trays of food, depending on what you want at the moment. You'll get used to visiting here after leaving those late parties with your friends.
5. Popeyes:
Popeyes is a sensation across the south. They began in Louisiana and have swept the nation. They are known for their spicy chicken and delicious biscuits. There is a location in walking distance of the AUC. You can also take the shuttle to the West End to get there. They also provide very reasonable food for reasonable prices. Unfortunately, they are not open as late as some of the restaurants on this list.
6. Busy Bee's:
Founded in In 1947, Busy Bee's is a restaurant dedicated to serving the community through great food. They offer what most would call soul food. Their menu consists of fried chicken, bar-b-que, fried fish, and the list continues. They are also conveniently located at on Martin Luther King Junior Drive.
7. Prickly Pear Taqueria:
Most AUC students frequent here on Thursday nights because it's College Night. They offer discounted drinks and food, which is very convenient. Prickly Pear is known for their tacos and infamous deals on their food. If you're looking for somewhere fresh and new, Prickly Pear might be the place for you.
8. Mr. Everything Cafe:
Also conveniently located on Martin Luther King Junior Drive, Mr. Everything Cafe has been serving the AUC and surrounding community since 1993. They are known for their delicious grilled chicken, however, they offer anything you could think of. From pastrami to gyros, Mr. Everything Cafe will leave you satisfied for low-cost.
9. Mardi Gras Cafe:
If you're looking for a good Southern meal, this is the place to go to. Located on Martin Luther King Junior Drive, they offer a variety of items for very reasonable prices. Get this, they even offer a college discount on Sundays. How convenient?
