Halloween is just around the corner and you have yet to buy your costume. Have no fear, below are five simple and easy costume designs you can create in just a short amount of time.
Wednesday Addams
Style: Black. Really that’s it - add a white colored shirt underneath a black dress or black top with black tights with any pair of black shoes and you’re good to go.
Hair: two braids with a center part. Any hair color works, but if you have black hair or a black wig, then use it.
Makeup: You probably won’t go barefaced, so if you’re really into character, go with a pale foundation. I think Wednesday would look awesome with some winged liner and major contour. Maybe even some black lipstick.
Rosie the Riveter
Style: I say denim on denim for this one. Get out your favorite jeans and a long-sleeved denim shirt; roll the sleeves up to just above your elbow. Wear some boots, heels, or converse.
Hair: If you’re serious about this costume, YouTube how to do some 1940's victory rolls in your hair. If not, an up-do would work. Tie a red bandana around your head and add some winged liner and a red lip.
Where’s Waldo?
Style: Get a red and white striped long-sleeve shirt, a red and white beanie with a pompom (easy to sew or glue), some pants (or not, whatever) and some round glasses from the Halloween section of the store. You could actually do a variation on any of the Waldo characters.
Spinelli from Recess (my costume last year):
Style: Get a red or orange dress, leather/motorcycle jacket, a beanie, striped knee-high socks, and motorcycle boots.
Hair: In the cartoon, her hair was in pigtails. My hair was too long, and I didn’t have the time to tease it to look like hers, so I just did braids.
Makeup is however you want to do it. She’s a kid in the cartoon, so no makeup. A moody disposition is also a great addition.
Zombie
Makeup: All you really need is some grey makeup, some black or brown eye shadow. Paint your face or body grey and use the brown and black to contour the planes of your face or body to make yourself look gaunt, tired, old, and dead-ish. Add some fake blood or smudge lipstick around your mouth to look like blood and if you really want to get creative, make your own or buy zombie bite prosthetics.
Hair and style: Make yourself look like you've been around and about for a year. Messy, frizzy, tangled hair and dirty, holey, ripped clothing. For some extra drama, rub some real dirt or moss on your clothing.
