5 Cyber Security Tips Everyone Should Know

Cybersecurity is a growing concern in today's world. This is because technological advancement and breakthrough is almost always accompanied with the threat of being compromised. Everyone has heard one story or another about how personal or corporate security was compromised, causing a lot of damage. Because of this, cybersecurity is always a worthwhile investment. Even for personal security, a lot of care should be taken. Sometimes, it's unsafe to use free public Wi-Fi in certain places. Other times, it's about not accessing some of your personal information or accounts when using a PC that isn't yours.

Cybersecurity can be divided into a few different sections including network security, application security, information security, operation security, and disaster recovery. Cybersecurity encompasses quite a few things but here are a few rudimentary tips about how to stay safe online.

Always Lock Your Devices

All the devices you use to access sensitive and personal information should always be as inaccessible to strangers as possible. Your phone, computers, and other digital devices should not be easily opened by strangers. Most devices have a setting that automatically locks the device if there's no activity recorded in a set period of time. Always leave this on by default so that even when you forget, your device will lock.

Vulnerability Management

This can be defined as the practice, identification, and prevention of all software vulnerabilities. Vulnerability Management is almost compulsory especially if you're a corporateentity or you own a business. There are vulnerability scanners that can help detect weaknesses in the form of susceptible software settings and configurations, open ports, and weaknesses that make malware attacks easily. Memsetoffers services to help tackle problems arising from cyber-insecurity and help with vulnerability management in general.

Always AssumeYou're Under Subtle Attack

It wouldn't help your efficiency and effectiveness if you have to look over your shoulders constantly. However, you should never assume that a cyber-attack will never be directed at you. No matter how small your accounts or businesses are, always assume that you're an easy prey to hackers and cyber criminals. This will keep you on your toes in the event that you're ever actually targeted.

Secure Password Management

Many service providers usually ask that you use a minimum of eight characters for your password. Nevertheless, you should always try to use more than eight,as long as you can remember it, so you don't have to write it down, compromising your security. Furthermore, don't stick with just letters or numbers only. Use a good combination of letters, numbers, and other characters that will make it difficult for a hacker to crack.

Be Circumspect

Never be in a hurry to download files or even access a website you don't trust. If you receive an email with an attachment from an address you don't recognise, do not download the attachment. Also, don't click everything you see online. For many people, that one click spells doom as it invites malware.

Always remember that you cannot be too careful with cyber security. Don't take chances on the internet with anything you don't recognise. Your security lies in your hands and you owe it to yourself to keep you safe.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
