Let's be honest, there are tons of jobs that deal with people regularly. Working closely with people can be sweet, kind, and all over a pleasant experience in your day, but it can also be the complete opposite. Whether you are a cashier, waitress, retail employee, or just someone that has the pleasure (horror) of doing a job that deals with the public, you can take comfort in the fact that there are some things that everyone in your position deals with.

1. Terrible Jokes.

You know, the customer (usually elderly men) that come in and take forever to actually give you the money to pay their bill, all the while telling jokes with a huge grin just waiting on you to laugh, so you do, because even though it isn't funny, you also aren't heartless.

2. The unwanted advances.

There is a fine line between flirty, and creepy, some people never notice this line and run right past it, which is pretty impressive for someone with both feet in their mouth.

3. The customer that takes everything bad that has happened through to them in their lifetime out on you, even though they just met you 2 minutes ago.

It can't be avoided, just learn to become a good listener and not take anything personally.

4. Price Hagglers.

Even though discounts aren't your job, they've already seen the price with no discount sticker, they've already decided to buy the item and have the money out ready to give you, they will still ask...

5. The good guys.

Despite all the bad customers you have, there are good ones too, they understand the policies, and procedures and don't take their frustrations out on you, and innocent bystander, and if you're lucky you have more people like this than the first four.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
