As we move into the season of fall, many of us are looking forward to some upcoming movies. Sci-Fi Fans have got Blade Runner: 2049, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi to look forward to. Horror Buffs have the remake of It and Jigsaw in September and October respectively. DC vs Marvel continues in the form of Thor: Ragnarok vs Justice League. And Pixar lovers will be happy to see Coco this November.
But while you wait, consider watching one of these 5 classic films. Many don’t watch old movies simply because they don’t know about them, or they don’t care enough to watch them. But these 5 films are considered some of the greatest, and I can personally attest to their quality.
1. "Citizen Kane"
Often called “The Greatest Movie of All Time”, "Citizen Kane" analyzes the character of Charles Foster Kane and the mystery behind his last words, “Rosebud”. At the very least, you should watch this so you can understand the easter eggs and stuff.
2. "Soylent Green"
In the distant future (aka the year 2022), life sucks because of overpopulation, and global warming. Lots of people go hungry. But not to worry, Soylent Corporation has a new food product, Soylent Green. But what is "Soylent Green"? Watch this and find out.
3. "Psycho"
Do you enjoy Bates Motel? Then you’ll like Alfred Hitchcock’s film "Psycho". This is the original inspiration for the hit TV series, and it is just as thrilling.
4. "Planet of the Apes"
You might be familiar with the trilogy that came out in recent years, but this is the original 1968 movie that inspired multiple remakes. It’s a different movie than the recent ones, but still worth the watch, and is known for one of the greatest twists in cinema.
5. "The Manchurian Candidate"
Of the movies on this list, "The Manchurian Candidate" may be the most political, but it’s an exceptionally well-made thriller. If you like political TV and movies, you’ll like this film about a secret plot.
