5 Childhood Things We All Do During finals
Huffington Post

As the end of the semester approaches, finals are upon us. If you're like me during these stressful times, you often revert back to childhood and exhibit behaviors similar to that of a five year old. Here are some childhood things to do during finals:

1. Make a pillow fort

It's cold outside and there is nothing more you want to do than snuggle under a nice bundle of pillows. This can be done in your bedroom or living room floor. See if you can hide from your problems. Hopefully your shelter is strong enough that it can protect you against the forces of final exam week.

2. Color

Ok, so maybe coloring isn't just for kids anymore. Remember when we had time set away just to get your shading right and stay within the lines? Adult coloring books are a recent trend that has swept the nation. The way to be the coolest college student in school is to have a shiny new pack of crayons and an awesome coloring book. Coloring has recently been proven to reduce stress. So scribble your stress away in between study breaks.

3. Eat an entire package of cookies

Yes, I stole the cookies from the cookie jar. And the reason I did is because there is nothing more satisfying than finishing a chapter and also finishing a chocolate-chip cookie. Your body deals with stress by craving sugar. I mean who wouldn't want to crack open a pack of delicious Oreos to eat with a steaming cup of hot chocolate? While binge eating isn't the best option for dealing with stress, a cookie here and their will bring joy to all the kids at heart.

4. Throw a temper tantrum

Emotions are high. Tension is even higher. The pile of things you have to do by the end of today is even higher than that. So what do you do? You yell. You scream. You cry. You snap at your friends and yell at your parents who are just trying to console you. And you think doing all of these things will help you get what you want- to be free of all the anxiety and items overwhelming you. You want to curl up in a ball on the floor and rock yourself back and fourth until you calm down.

5. Take a nap

It's been twenty hours since you last slept and there are exactly five hours till your exam. The best solution may be to take a nap midday just like you did back in kindergarten. Seriously, your brain would benefit from some z's. A 20-30 minute nap can improve your alertness and mood. Many people can be found in the library curled up with a book.

So this finals seasons, take a lesson from a five year old. They really do have the best way of dealing with things

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
