Natchez Trace: Birdsong Hollow and and Highway 96 Double-Arched Bridge
Just outside of Nashville and Franklin lies one of the most visually pleasing bridges in Middle Tennessee. The double-arched bridge spans 1,648 feet across Birdsong Hollow and Tennessee Highway 96, creating awe-inspiring views. Birdsong Bridge won the 1995 Presidential Award for Design Excellence for its original, 155-foot high build.
Radnor Lake State Natural Area:
Looking to spend an afternoon outside the hustle and bustle of the city? Stop by nearby Radnor Lake. Four unpaved trails allow visitors to wander through the park while coming across native animals, including otters, beavers and deer. Migratory birds to sometimes visit the area include the bald eagle.
Arrington Vineyards:
Halfway between Murfreesboro and Franklin lies Arrington Vineyards. Open year-round, the vineyard offers tours, tastings, and bonfires on chilly nights. Live music is also provided during some summer evenings. Stop by on a good day and you just might run into co-owner Kix Brooks of country duo, Brooks & Dunn.
Jack Daniel’s Distillery:
Stop by the place where it all began to learn all about Jack and his cherished whiskey. Located in Lynchburg, the Jack Daniels distillery is a treasured part of Tennessee history. The roughly-hour-long tours are offered daily starting at 9 a.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m.. Not 21? Don’t worry! Guests of all ages are welcome to participate in the tours. However, only visitors 21 or older are allowed to partake in the whiskey tastings.
Opryland Hotel and Resort:
Cliché, I know, but this hotel and resort is one of Nashville’s most-visited locations. With its upscale atmosphere and outrageous atriums, this location is definitely one to visit. Opryland is known by locals for its abundant light displays during the holiday season. Whether you’re looking to dine at top-notch restaurants, wander through shops, ride small boats through indoor canals, or just take in the sights, Opryland is one of the most worthwhile visits in Nashville.
