If you're like me and need a little extra help when it comes to being mindful about eating healthy, then these books are the perfect start for you. This summer I dove into all of these books, learning something new with every page. Once you discover how much better you can feel, you'll never want to go back.
1. Nourish Mind, Body & Soul by Amber Rose, Sadie Frost & Holly Davidson
This is a unique book because it is split into three sections written by three different authors. The authors are two sisters and one of their close friends. Each woman shares their stories about how they stay maintain both physical and mental wellness. The first section is about food, the second is about yoga and meditation, and the third is about mindset and workout. Each section is well separated between personal testimony and examples for the reader, such as recipes, breathing exercises, and workouts. It is a good book to have around the house, as it has tips about health in every aspect.
2. The 2-Step Low-FODMAP Eating Plan by Sue Shepherd
This book is aimed at people with food intolerances and digestive disorders, but it honestly can be helpful to anyone. It outlines the different type of foods that serve as triggers to people's digestive symptoms. Trigger foods are different for everyone, but it's a good place to start if you ever have any sort of digestive problems. It highlights how to execute an elimination diet to find out what kind of foods trigger your symptoms. Even if you don't have digestive issues it's interesting to learn about what foods are harder for your body to digest and why.
This is my favorite health book. It teaches how food can be used to promote beauty from within, rather than using cosmetics to fix beauty issues. This can be a foreign concept to a lot of people. The author specifically outlines dozens of foods that are good for beauty health and why. I always struggle with creating a grocery list of heathy foods, and this book basically gives you that. Even a few days of eating the foods described in this book and you can feel the difference.
4. Eat Pretty, Live Well by Jolene Hart
This book is somewhat of a sequel to the book described above. It has the same information as Eat Pretty, but in a condensed version because it is part journal. Basically this version of Eat Pretty is putting into action the knowledge of the original book. It contains a built in food journal, goal pages, and many more motivational pages to fill in.
5. Start Where You Are by Meera Lee Patel
This book is purely mental health. It's basically a guided journal. Each page has a different prompt, and you can go at your own pace. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to journal or would like to. And for all the people who aren't really into journaling, this book could be a good start. It's not asking you to write pages and pages about your feelings. Sometimes it's lists, drawing, short writing, etc. There's something for everyone.
I hope that these books can be as helpful to you as they have been to me.
