I am a great TV/movie lover and I especially enjoy watching Hindi TV shows as well as Bollywood movies. So, here's a list of the different shows/movies I have loved from the Indian Bollywood/Tellywood industries:
No. 1: Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan
This show is on the top of my list and I am following it extensively right now. 'Yaariyan' means friendship, and thus the show itself is all about friendship, love, misunderstandings and above all, it encompasses all the new experiences that can form a part of college life. The focus of the she is on a group of college friends as they become 'friends for life,' and how these people completely accept each other and support each other through thick and thin.
No. 2: Wake Up Sid
I love this coming-of-age Bollywood movie. It is about the transformation of a young, rich, and lazy college-going boy into a responsible, self-aware man. It's the journey of transformation for Sid who fails in college and then goes about to realize that photography is his passion. His story becomes more interesting when a budding writer, Aisha, enters into his life. She inspires him to become independent and he inspires her to live life to the fullest. I love this film for Ayan Mukherjee's direction and the accompanying music. Ayan seems to capture the very simple, internal transformation of two people and portrays it in a beautiful way on-screen.
No.3: Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
I think this Bollywood movie has been an all-time favorite and an all-people favorite. It was directed by Ayan Mukherjee (once again), and Ayan describes it as a movie where he has put in all his experiences, emotions, and thoughts as a college boy. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is a love story, but that proves in the end to be a minor part of it. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is actually about a group of college friends who have many adventurous things together, and how their life changes when they get out of college, split apart, grow up, and finally meet in a destination wedding. Each of the main characters in this movie makes certain life-changing decisions, and how they come upon making these decisions is portrayed beautifully as the movie unfolds.
No.4 : Zindagi Wins
This is a Hindi show that aired on Bindass TV. 'Zindagi Wins' actually means 'Life Wins.' The story hovers around a group of doctors in a hospital called LIFEBEAT and how these doctors contribute to saving patients' LIFEBEATS in their own way. The protagonist, Aaliya, is a young doctor who believes that hope is everything. She believes in listening to her heart and thus, she brings in a whole new energy to the LIFEBEAT hospital. Again, there is love in this story, but it doesn't make it a typical love story.
No.5 : Halla Bol
This show is based on women empowerment. It is very, very inspiring because it showcases stories based on real-life experiences where women fought against injustice and became their own heroes. It depicts the struggle that many Indian women undergo and it encourages them to fight against it and rise above it. This show inspires a lot of courage and determination with its tagline, 'Ladkiyan Kam Nahi,' which means that girls aren't any less in terms of skills, courage, or strength.
The above five Bollywood/Tellywood works have inspired me the most up to now. I believe that certain movies, TV shows, or any work of art is such that it can't be replicated. This is because there's no method to create a good show. Everything in the creation of a song or a movie for me is magic: the creation of a storyline with a noble idea, the creation of strong characters, and the search for 'just the right' people to embody those characters. I sincerely appreciate all the people who make this magic happen and I am pretty sure that I will continue to add to my above list of '5 Bollywood/Tellywood works I fell in love with' in the future.
