5 Bible Verses For The Job Seeking Grad

Finding a job is not what it used to be. Having a back pocket stuffed with resumes isn't the way to go, but rather creating the perfect resume that recruiters can be convinced in six seconds. In addition, the wording of your resume goes through a system before reaching the hands of a recruiter, which uses an algorithm to eliminate resumes that don't include specific wording. Tough crowd, huh?

So if you feel down in the dumps from writing countless "About Me's" and "Why you should choose me's" then look to the Lord. He has a plan and it is better than anything we could ever imagine. Here are 5 Bible verses to regain your confidence:

1. Proverbs 19:21 - There are many plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s plan that will stand.

Try replacing "a man's" with your name. For example, There are many plans in Lauren's heart, but it is the Lord's plan that will stand. I'm guilty of trying to create a thirty-year plan when it is truly not up to me. My plan is already written and stressing isn't going to change anything, except my sanity.

2. Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord, "plans for well-being and not for trouble, to give you a future and a hope."

This bible verse is all over the pages on Pinterest and in every Instagram bio. God doesn't create stress or make us worried. It's our own human nature that takes over when we can't see a vision of the future. As long as we trust in the Lord and his plan, then worry and stress will fly out the window.

3. Matthew 6:8 - Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

How many Facebook posts have you come across that go along the lines of a new job, new city, and a start date? And immediately it feels like a waiting game that is never going to come to an end. Since we are constantly being influenced by what is around us, we start to base our own accomplishments next to everyone else. Just remember that God is working through a million options to get you where he wants you. Have faith that something so great is being built and it's going to be exactly where you should be.

4. Romans 8:28 - We know that God makes all things work together for the good of those who love Him and are chosen to be a part of His plan.

He is working to get you where you need to be. Even though it feels like the train has repeatedly left without you, it means the shiniest, most grand train is headed your way and you better be ready!

5. Psalm 32:8 - I will show you and teach you in the way you should go. I will tell you what to do with My eye upon you.

Look back on everything you have accomplished. Make a list so you can see what God has planned for you. He is constantly reminding you and giving you signs to go a certain way and jump that unbearable hurdle. The easiest way to describe God's works is by thinking of a jigsaw puzzle. He is giving you a piece every day, which will eventually look like a masterpiece. Answer his call by looking for ways he is building your puzzle.

The more you plan, the more that gets in the way of His Plan.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
