If you are like me, you love to take advantage of the beautiful weather and take your studies to the great outdoors. Fortunately for us, Florida Gulf Coast University is very environmentally conscious and encourages its students to enjoy the beauty of nature by giving us these beautiful spots. Read on if you are tired of feeling confined to the dark and freezing cold library. Here are the 5 best study spots at FGCU:
1. Waterfront
The most beautiful place on campus by far is the waterfront in North Lake Village. With construction recently done, there is now a beautiful boardwalk spanning almost completely across the waterfront. Here you can find benches, hammocks, and other cozy spots to sit and do some reading and studying. The housing wifi reaches out to these water-front spots, so you are even able to write a paper on your laptop if you'd like!
2. Behind Reed Hall
Behind Reed Hall there are picnic tables with free standing seats looking out over the swamp and preserved land. It is one of the more quiet places on campus and is the perfect spot for some serene studying in the sun. Put in some headphones, pick a seat facing the water and nature trail and you might even forget that you are at school!
3. Cohen Center Balcony
It can get a little hot up here in the summer months, but in the winter you will feel like a cat soaking up the warm sun. This is a quiet place with tables, couches, and outdoor outlets where any student can lounge and do some homework.
4. Behind Merwin Hall
The picnic tables behind Merwin hall are very relaxing to be at. Like the tables behind Reed Hall, they give you a beautiful view of the preserved land that Florida Gulf Coast University is known for. This spot is also the most central to everything on campus, so it will be quick and easy to pack up and get to your next class fast.
5. Library Lawn
The library lawn has so much to offer when it comes to finding a study spot. There are places for your hammock, benches, tables, and places to lay out a blanket. You can be in the sun or the shade, around a lot of people or not as many people. You might even be able to stumble on some free Kona Ice.
