There really is nothing not to love about the holidays-there are more smiles, more decorations, and more sizzling hot drinks. However, this time of year is also probably the most stressful time of year for students. Final exams, 2,000 -word final papers, holding down a job, and other obligations can take a toll on students. Sometimes, you just need to unwind with one of those sizzling hot drinks and a heated blanket..and if you're lucky, a fireplace. To enhance this experience, one of these classic Christmas movies is a perfect option:
1. Home Alone
This movie always warms my heart. Kevin, an 8 year old boy, is left home alone when his huge family leaves for vacation in France. He has to make booby traps throughout his house to fend off everyone's favorite Water Bandits, played by a classic Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. It is guaranteed to make you smile, tear up, but most of all, it will make you want to watch it year after year. Fun fact: my mom told me that when this came out in 1990, it was so popular that people went to see it in theaters more than once. If only movies were still cheap enough that you could do that!
2. The Polar Express
This one holds many memories for me. I saw it in theaters in 2004 when I was still in elementary school, so it brings me a lot of nostalgia. SPOILER ALERT: I still get emotional at the end when the narrator says that eventually, his sister could no longer hear the bell anymore, but he can, and all those who truly "believe" can. When this film ends, you cannot help but ponder if there is anything Tom Hanks cannot do.
3. Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town
A mailman named Special Delivery "S.D." Kluger answers all your burning questions about Santa Claus. You also can't pass up a chance to hear a name like BurgerMesiter Meisterburger.
4. How The Grinch Stole Christmas
The ending is so cheerful you can't help but smile as big (but less evil) as the hermit himself, pictured below:
