Five Apps Every College Kid Has On Their Phone

No matter how much we try to deny it, almost all of us have these apps on our phones, especially if you live on campus and you want to know what the word is constantly. I know I am guilty of having almost, or all of these apps on my own phone. If you have any of these featured apps on your phone, comment on which apps you use!

1. Yik Yak

Yik Yak is a popular app that almost every college kid or even high school kid has on their phone. It is pretty much like an anonymous Twitter. People send in things and you can "upvote" them or you can "downvote" them and cause them to be deleted. This app was created for people to find their groups and campus information to be seen by everyone, but it slowly turned into an app for bashing and crashing parties.

2. Tinder

All of us college kids get lonely sometimes and just want someone to cuddle and watch Netflix with. So, we download this app, swipe left for the guys that can stay in their own beds, and swipe right for the guys that can come cuddle any time they want. Tinder started out as a positive way for college kids to meet people, but it slowly turned into an app that people used to "get laid."

3. Fade

Fade is pretty much Yik Yak but with pictures and you only get one anonymous post a day so people usually know who posts what. A majority of the posts are funny pictures, but some of them are inappropriate pictures. That's college kids for you.

4. Twitter

I remember when I made my Twitter account back in 2009 and the only people I followed were celebrities, aka the Jonas Brothers. Now, over half of my followers are people that I know in real life. Twitter slowly took the place of Facebook because there was way too many parents creating Facebook accounts, and teens and young adults decided to move camp, to Twitter. You can retweet, favorite, and quote the night away. It is even a competition between some people with how many followers you can get and how many retweets and favorites you can get on each tweet.

5. Snapchat

Snapchat is an app that is used to send pictures that disappear after a certain amount of seconds. It was created by a group of college guys who thought what better way for girls to send nudes then through an app that will automatically delete them after you view them. Little did people know, it would become easier and easier to screenshot and save the picture to your gallery on your phone. Now, you don't even have to hold down on the screen. you just tap and it goes, which makes it that much easier to screenshot.

Do not be afraid to admit you are addicted to all five of these apps. You secretly lay in your room Yik Yaking about the hot guy on the third floor of your building, you secretly swipe right on any guy that is over six foot, you secretly post memes daily on Fade, you secretly run an anonymous Twitter page and are constantly checking your number of favorites, and you secretly love to send some pretty scary Snapchats for your best friends' eyes and their eyes only to see. If you can't relate to this, congratulations, you are unique.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
