Affirmations is affirming or declaring something positive about yourself that you believe is true.

Reciting positive affirmation is a practice of self-reassurance. Most affirmations begin with “I am” or “I will.” Anything that is declaring to you so it can be anything you want that will help you believe in yourself and your actions. For instance, if you constantly recite to yourself in the mirror “I will receive the love I go out to world,” you will begin to believe and then you will eventually receive it.

It is about believing what you are affirming to yourself because if you don’t believe in what you are saying, you are just stating meaningless words that doesn’t serve you any purpose

1. I Am Love.

We all have loved and have been in love, so we know what love feels like, but there are times when we question love. We question love that doesn’t serve us and most of the time that can be self-love since some of us don’t know how to love ourselves properly. We focus so much on loving others that we forget to love ourselves, and that is the most damaging thing a person can do. Neglecting yourself for someone can create lack of self-love practices and reciting “I am love” to yourself is a reminder that you are the love you give to the world and others. Take this affirmation and elaborate on it. What type of love are you? What type of love do you give? Why are you love?

2. I Am Enough.

Believing that we are enough is a challenge within itself. Even for me, it is a tough concept to fathom at times because sometimes I feel like what I give isn’t enough. I know I can do more than what I’m doing as a student, daughter, friend, and person so that is why its challenging to believe I am enough. People who think similar to me, this affirmation is a perfect reminder when your self-esteem drops a little or when you failed a test or you just got your heart broken. Remind yourself that you are enough. My enough is enough. How are you enough? Is your enough enough and if so, how?

3. I Am Worthy of All the Blessings That Come My Way.

This affirmation is a great reminder for those who are struggling financially, emotionally, mentally etc. because it’s easy to sink into a state of depression when things aren’t going your way. If you believe in a higher power and believe that are you still blessed despite of your circumstances, it is best to recite this affirmation. Recite this affirmation when you believe a way will be made out of no way, when there is no money in your pockets or you get laid off of your job etc. Believe that you are worthy of all blessings even when you are at your lowest point. Why do you think you’re worthy? What makes you worthy of the blessings that come your way?

4. I Will Be The Best I Can Be.

Believing that you are the best when you feel at your worst is the most rewarding thing you can do for yourself. You are your biggest cheerleader and worst enemy and they tend to fight each other when believing in yourself becomes weary. Affirming that you will be the best shows that you already have the confidence and ability that you can be the best you can be. Our mind always plays tricks on us which is why it is so easy to think negative of ourselves than to think positively. Think about it: thinking positive about ourselves requires work and dedication, but when we think negative about ourselves, it’s easier to think “I can’t do it” versus “I can do it.” How will you be the best you can be? Are you the best you can be?

5. I Will Get Through This.

When going through life, we face many obstacles that tests our faith and trusting the process. It is very easy to get consumed in our mess when we try our hardest to get out of it. Believing and knowing that you will get through the obstacle you’re facing shows your strength. There’s a quote that states “In order to go through it, you have to get through it” and this affirmation is affirming that you are not allowing your obstacles to consume you. You are facing your obstacles head on with this affirmation. Do you believe you will get through whatever it is you’re facing?

Affirmations are best to recite to yourself repetitively whether in the morning or at night. Recite your personal affirmations in the mirror. No one will help you believe in yourself but you. Remember I stated that you are your biggest cheerleader and worst enemy. What are you going to be?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
