46 Things I'd Rather Do Than Write A Paper

There's nothing I won't do to procrastinate.

This semester has hit me like a train. We're barely through the first few weeks, and I'm already overwhelmed. I feel like I'm weeks behind where I should be. And to make matters worse, I have so many papers and projects due at the beginning of the semester. Assigning major projects at the beginning of the semester should be a crime, honestly. But alas, it is not, and the Procrastination Fairy has made her home sitting on my shoulder. That being said, here are 46 things I would rather be doing right now than writing this term paper:

1. Cleaning my room.

2. Organizing my sock drawer.

3. Organizing someone else's sock drawer.

4. Alphabetizing my kitchen cabinets.

5. Playing with my dogs.

6. Playing with my cat.

7. Playing with my cat *and* my dogs.

At the same time.

8. Playing with the stray cats in my neighborhood.

9. Kicking the skunk family out of my neighbor's yard.

10. Mowing the lawn.

11. Or really any yard work for that matter.

12. Buying inflated gas.

$2.79/gallon? I mean I guess it's better than writing...

13. Starting homework for other classes.

14. Planning next semester's schedule.

15. Planning my boyfriend's next semester schedule.

16. Planning literally anyone's schedule, actually.

I should be a guidance counselor.

17. Applying to Grad School.

Between the apps and my paper, I'm going to cry either way.

18. Reorganizing my sock drawer.

I just didn't get it right the first time, ok?

19. Going to Target with a budget.

Which is, like, impossible.

20. Going to Walmart...period.

Yikes.

21. Going to Disney.

22. ...In a Hurricane.

23. Running an unsuccessful Presidential campaign.

24. Running a successful Presidential campaign.

25. Having a conversation with Donald Trump.

26. Or literally any member of the Trump family, for that matter.

I mean, Barron seems pretty cool, right?

27. Color coding my planner.

28. Color coding my calendar.

29. Color coding my bathroom.

30. Writing an article.

31. Writing three more articles.

32. Writing my memoir.

Because I'm just so interesting.

33. Writing a book about that time I didn't want to write a paper.

New York Times Bestseller, here I come!

34. Learning how to cook a three-course meal.

35. Learning how to bake a pie.

From scratch.

36. Walking through a spider web first thing in the morning.

37. Walking from East Campus to West Campus.

38. ...In the snow.

39. Walking across the Quad in flip flops during a rain storm.

Or should I say, swimming*.

40. Or in the blistering heat, for that matter.

41. Eating chicken nuggets.

But let's be real, I'd rather eat chicken nuggets than do anything else.

42. Learning a language.

43. Reading every volume of Norton's Anthologies.

Because reading literal thousands of pages of literature is more appealing than writing this paper.

44. Taking a nap.

45. Or ten.

46. Planning out my next ten essays.

But I still won't touch the one that's due.

StableDiffusion

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
