In the year 2020, it will be 4/20 for an entire month. Until then, the artists around the bay area have discovered their own way to express their appreciation for the day.
The Mushmind: "I'm Clean" part one music video was released on 420. The video follows Chris Campagnano around as he attempts to navigate through his day-to-day life. At work, Campagnano is ridiculed and antagonized all day. Even on the way home Campagnano is bullied on the streets by pedestrians.
The video takes a gory turn when the main character, after a long day, starts to shower. Eventually, the main character begins to suffocate himself with a shower curtain, It’s a very Tarantinomoment, with blood oozing and gushing everywhere.
The video resolves with an officer finding Campagnanos' dead body. "I'm Clean" is the second video ever from the YborCity noise punk four piece, but it's the first single and video in a five-part series to be released by Mushmind for the new ep "Better Life."
Ari Chi's "Let It Be Known" music video was also released this past 4/20. The uke goddess captures a relaxing chill happy vibe perfect for welcoming summer. The "Let It Be Known" visuals starts with Ari Chi being picked up by a group of friends. After a brief car ride, they arrive at a woodland area—this is where most of the video takes place.
The gang sets up tents, starts a fire and roasts marshmallows. The beauty of the video is it relatability, not in its creative endeavors. The video is very reminiscent of a lost summer borrowed time.Goofy and cheerful moments are mashed with a few illegal tendencies and of course the making of 'smores.
To really end 420 properly, Red Star Rock Bar will be hosting The CFL NORML Spliff Music Festival aka the Spring Leaf Freedom Festival on 4/30. It's their 420 on 4/30. With amazing musicians set to play such as Bangarang, Sunsetters, Marianna Jazmine, Rising Down, Jessica Rose and Brian Earl Band, the bay area crowd is sure to enjoy the live music and libations with all proceeds going to legalization.
