Summer is finally here! With warmer weather comes more chances to get outside and enjoy it with your significant other. Sometimes it's hard to pick an activity, so here's my list of 41 simple, and affordable, dates for you to pick from!

1. Go on a picnic.

Head to a grocery store, or your fridge, and make a portable lunch. Find a nice place to plop down and enjoy! I recommend a local park or garden.

2. Go rollerblading.

This is a really easy date, and an even easier opportunity to laugh at your significant other (or for them to laugh at you).

3. Give ice skating a try.

This date generally follows the same plot as rollerblading. Think of it as a chance to cool off.

4. Try backyard camping.

Grab a tent and head out to your backyard. This is the ultimate date for people who want to switch up date night, but aren't adventurous in nature.

5. Find your way to an amusement park.

This isn't always the cheapest option, but it does provide the two of you a day full of opportunities for fun!

6. Go see a drive-in movie.

Stack your car full of blankets and pillows and make a beeline for your local drive-in theater. It's a great chance to relax together!

7. Take a camping trip.

If you're more of an outdoor couple, take advantage and head to the woods! Camping can be incredibly fun and inexpensive. Pack some snacks and head out!

8. Go on a mini road trip to a town neither of you are from.

Adventuring in a place that's new to both of you can give you the chance to travel a bit. Explore all the new shops and food places!

9. Go to a baseball game.

Baseball games, especially minor league ones, tend to have pretty cheap tickets available.

10. Go stargazing.

Take a trip outside the city so you can fully see the sky. Without the light pollution, you should be able to pick out constellations and individual stars! Bring a guidebook or use the internet to help you.

11. Take a trip to the pool.

Nothing feels more like summer than a dip in the pool. Take your significant other to the closest local pool to cool off in the heat!

12. Take a trip to the ocean.

If you're lucky enough, the ocean might be closer than a pool anyways. Cool off in the water and lounge in the sand! Be sure to take plenty of pictures!

13. Hunt around at local garage sales.

People love to have yard and garage sales during the summer months. Take your significant other around town with you and see what the two of you can dig up. Remember: one man's trash is another man's treasure!

14. Watch your favorite Disney movies.

Have a movie marathon consisting of your favorite throwbacks!

15. Host a cooking or baking competition between the two of you.

See which person is the best at making brownies or cooking pasta! It's simple and easy, plus you get dinner out of it!

16. Go for a hike or walk.

This gives you two a chance to have quality conversations while enjoying the beauty of outside. Take advantage of the nice weather while you can!

17. Volunteer at a local non-profit together.

Volunteering is a great way to help out the community, plus it's completely free. Doing it with you significant other gives you a chance to do good together. I recommend animal shelters or food services! They're easy and fun.

18. Take a bike ride around your city.

I highly recommend doing this at sunset. You can enjoy the adventure without even having to worry about parking! Take a trip to a local ice cream shop or grab a bite to eat!

19. Dress up and eat fast food.

Dressing up is always really fun, but who said you need to eat fancy too? Get done-up and then head to your favorite greasy spoon. It'll give the two of you a good laugh, and you'll certainly turn some heads.

20. Or... dress up and eat fancy food!

Having a nice date night every once in a while is a fantastic treat. Agree on your favorite eating spot and head there together.

21. Go to a local park and fly a kite.

Getting a kite off the ground is an art within itself. Sometimes it's easier with a partner! Pack some snacks and bring a blanket to make a trip out of it.

22. Enjoy an outdoor concert together.

Warm weather brings lots of treats with it, but one of the best ones is outdoor music. Find a band both of you like and see them in concert!

23. Try out local coffee shops together.

Stray away from the Starbucks norm and try out the local flavors.

24. Have a bonfire.

Summer nights aren't complete without at least one bonfire. Gather some of your friends and some of your significant others and hang out around a fire. Encourage people to bring instruments; improv music always warms the scene.

25. Go on a $5 shopping spree.

Head on over to the mall and see which of you gets the better score with only five dollars.

26. See a movie in the theater.

It's a simple date, but it gets the two of you out of the house and out of bed, for that matter. See what's playing!

27. Make root beer floats.

Root beer floats are summer's perfect treat. Indulge with your significant other on a toasty day.

28. Have a water balloon fight.

Nothing appeals to a competitive couple more than a chance to beat them at something. See which one of you makes it out less soaked! Game on!

29. Visit the zoo.

Zoo's are a great chance to see new things in the comfort of a place you know well. Spend time there with your significant other. Pick out your favorite animals, make squished pennies, and eat plenty of hot dogs!

30. Go to a farmers market.

Farmers markets are home to plenty of fun trinkets and delicious, homegrown nibbles. Take a look around, and maybe even buy some supplies to make dinner with that night!

31. Take a dance class together.

Nothing bonds people together quite like the shame of bad dance moves. Show off your skills, and learn some sweet moves, all while having fun with your significant other.

32. Sing your heart out at a local karaoke spot.

Nothing screams "High School Musical romance" quite like belting out an out-of-date Whitney Houston song. Hop on the karaoke train with your significant other, and hold your own against other couples.

33. Paint pottery together.

There's plenty of places where you can paint pre-created pottery pieces! Take a date night there and create some art. I recommend making matching mugs or plates, it's a cute memento!

34. Make s'mores.

This is the perfect complement to number 24! Make a toasty treat and enjoy the simplicity of the date.

35. Have an at-home spa night.

Why drop the big bucks when you can make an at home spa for you and your significant other! Be as creative as you want to be. I recommend taking turns giving massages.

36. Start a new TV series together.

It seems that there's always a new hit series debuting on Netflix or TV. Pick one that the two of you have always wanted to watch and start it together. This can easily become a regular date night activity, or you can try to binge the whole thing!

37. Take a cooking class.

Cooking is a key skill in life, so why not learn to do it together? It's a great chance to spend time together while still being productive.

38. Make a trip to the batting cages.

A lot of local amusement parks, fairgrounds or fun centers have batting cages that you can try for a pretty minimal price. It's a lot of fun, and a great way to spend time together!

39. Go golfing, or mini golfing.

If you're feeling lucky with your golfing skills then a trip to the course can make a great date. If the full sized version isn't for you mini golfing can be just as fun!

40. Set up a sprinkler obstacle course.

This one, again, is for the competitive couple. Gather as many sprinklers as you can and set them up. See who can run through the course without getting wet!

41. Go on a restaurant crawl.

Try out tons of new places and keep a running list of the best!

42. Hit up arcades.

The arcade date will never be out of style. Enjoy being a kid again while spending quality time with your significant other.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
