Some of us are long time residents of the quaint little town of Alma. Also known to it’s residents as “Scotland, USA”. Here are some ways to know you are a Scot.

1. You know it is known as “tartan” as well as plaid.
2. You say, “Go Scots” to just about anything.
3. You have come to terms with the fact that the majority of people you meet will not know what the heck Alma College is.
4. You have started to not mind the sound of bagpipes.
5. You have seen many a man in a skirt.
6. You miss Stucchi's.
7. You mock the “Wait, Wait, Wait…” voice at Wright Ave.
8. You probably have at least one picture with Scotty, the mascot.
9. You know that President Abernathy can pop up everywhere.
10. You have been forced to learn the words to the “Alma Mater.”
11. You have gotten over having communal bathrooms.
12. You know at least one person in the Kiltie Marching Band.
13. You also know the difference between the Pipe Band and the Marching Band.
14. You know or have started to learn most of the Greek letters.
15. You know that both Gelston and Heritage Center are haunted.
16. You curse Joe’s for not being open late on Saturday nights.
17. You have taken loads of laundry out of the washer or dryer to make room for your own.
18. When someone smiles at you, you question whether you know them or they are just being nice.
19. You know that Munch Money is sacred.
20. In turn, you know how to hoard your Munch Money.
21. You know how to time it to get fresh scones at Highland Java.
22. You have drank at least one Awkward Turtle.
23. You have waited outside, in the cold, just for the Pizza One driver.
24. You call the dining hall, “Saga” even though it is actually called Hamilton Commons.
25. You have gotten used to one ply toilet paper (Sadly :( )
26. You either love or hate Starbucks, there is no inbetween.
27. You love Meijer and WalMart more than you did before college.
28. You know you are golden if you get to park near your dorm.
29. You have received at least one pine tree in your time at school.
30. You know that getting a tartan tie is sacred. (Only the president has the power to give them out.)
31. You know where President Abernathy lives and have probably been there before.
32. It still shocks you that Sodexo makes our food as well as the food for prisons.
33. You know that we were not always known as “The Scots.”
34. You know that there is always an activity for anyone.
35. You second guessed your choice of college when you were mobbed by people at move in.
36. You usually become friends with your RA.
37. You have at least one article of Maroon clothing.
38. You have become very familiar with Moodle and PaperCut.
39. You count down the days until Therapy Dog Night.
40. You know that Alma is your family.
