4 Free Underrated Apps to Help Organize Your Life
Marketing Land

With the recent release of the new iPhone 7 and iOS10, I come to you with some of my favorite, underrated free iPhone apps. If your favorite app isn't on this list, let me know in the comments!

1. Strides

I had been needing an app to keep track of how often I work out, so I downloaded Strides. But not only does this app let me do that, it helps me track how much water I drink, how many hours I sleep, and pretty much set any goal that I want for myself (they can be per day, week, month, year, etc). I love this app. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to reach a goal, terminate a bad habit, or just improve their lifestyle!

2. Mint

When I first got a debit card, I didn't keep track of my money at all. Then, I started to write down my spendings with a pen and paper. Then I downloaded an app called Spender - I loved it, but it required me to manually input all of my spendings and incomes. THEN I found Mint. Mint is fantastic - once you connect your bank account, everything that you do transfers seamlessly to this app without manually having to do it yourself. It organizes your spendings into categories, i.e. transportation, food & dining, salary, tuition, and allows you to see what exactly your money has been going towards. This has been so helpful to me to create budgets for myself (it can track your budgets too) and make sure I don't overdo it at Free People or the local burger bar too often, as I tend to do.

3. Venmo

Speaking of money, Venmo is an incredibly useful app: perfect for college students, but not just for them exclusively. If you've ever found yourself in need to pay a friend but you have no cash on hand, or vice versa, this app will be great for you. After connecting your bank account or credit/debit card, it quite easily allows you to transfer money from account to account to friends, for FREE! You can even request payments to anyone who owes you money. Venmo has been so useful for me throughout my senior year in high school and at college thus far!

4. myHomework

Until the end of high school, I had always been one to write down my homework and any upcoming assignments in a physical planner. I never understood students who seemed to just be able to remember any tasks they needed to complete off the top of their heads. However, at the beginning of my senior year I spent some time searching the app store for a way to electronically input my homework. I came across the app myHomework and have used it since! myHomework allows you to put in your classes based on whatever time system that is most appropriate for you (i.e. period-based or block-based for high school, time-based for college). It also allows you to make some tasks repeat, a feature not available on most other homework apps. I use myHomework daily to keep track of my assignments and would definitely recommend it to any student.

I love using my iPhone's apps and am always searching for new apps. I hope that these four have the same impact on your lifestyle as they did on mine!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
