We live in an era of change. Activists have stood up in the face of adversity to fight for their beliefs, urging others to stand in the face of injustice. People have advocated for their own unalienable rights, and pushed for recognition of the rights of others. We still have much ground to cover, but much progress has been made.
Recently, gender norms have been bent, twisted, and thrown out of shape time and time again. As more and more people cry out against the micromanagement of women’s clothing, more and more men have come to the table to flip the question right on its head.
Thus, I bring you to a list of beautiful men who have chosen to ditch the trousers and instead don the freedom of the skirt. Enjoy!
1. Marc Jacobs
His Prada skirt along with a matching purse just shows his endless style.
2. Marko J. Bahor
Matevz Kosterov captures Bahor's stunning beauty.
3. Ezra Miller
Speechless.
4. Jaden Smith
Jayden's style landed him a position as a model for Louis Vuitton – what more needs to be said?
But it’s not just models and celebrities who have championed the man skirt brigade. Men in Europe have began protesting against requirements to wear trousers instead of shorts in the midst of a recent heat wave. Reports of bus drivers showing up to work in skirts in France have popped up, in addition to similar protest by drivers in Sweden. Even men in the U.K. have been advocating for their right to new apparel, like when Joey Barge, opted to wear a pink dress to work instead.
Adults aren’t the only ones standing up to the system. Around 30 young boys from ISCA Academy in Exeter opted to wear skirts to school rather than suffer through the heat in the school uniform’s trousers.
In the midst of bickers of romphims and other debates on men’s clothing, seeing everyday people stand up for their right to self-expression is refreshing. I must say – just let them be! Clothes are clothes and they are a beautiful means of self-expression.
Rock on, man skirts, rock on.
