First off, thank you to those who read my articles. I truly appreciate those who like, share, or comment on my articles. No one has to do that and yet, I will continue to write. To me it's not about the attention my articles get or whether people agree with my way of writing or what I am writing about. It's about the fact that I am writing about anything I want to write about and enjoying it. So, I figure I would share my thoughts on why I am an Odyssey creator and it may spark your interest to become one as well!

1. Diversity

Being a writer makes me a better reader of others' content. I learn about things I had no idea about, nor other people's concerns in the world. Not only is the the content diverse, but the viewpoints are diverse. I am no longer streamlined into my ideas, but I appreciate what other people think more.

2. Creativity

It's fun! It keeps my mind moving and interest in current events, buzzwords, or trending topics. Besides that it allows me to fully express my opinion and take on anything and everything I want to share

3. Therapeutic

I came to a point in my life where I needed something more in my life. I had just gone thought a rough patch in life and I needed a way to express my thoughts. I had an empty gap in my life and if you know me, I need it filled. So I dove into something else. Instead of finding a new series on Netflix to binge watch, I chose something for myself in order to express myself, therapeutic-like. I needed structure and a new outlet. This was the perfect thing. I have weekly deadlines and am in a community of other writers. I enjoy reading their articles, as well as them reading mine.

4. Relaxation

I love sitting on my bed with my laptop on Thursday nights (because my deadlines are Friday mornings and lately I have been waiting until the last minute) and typing away. It's a modern sense of journaling and sharing it with others so that others who may feel that same way have someone to relate to or you feel others relate to you.

----------

My story starts at when I saw an ad in my school's announcements which caught my eye. It said that the Odyssey at Bradley University was looking for more creators and I jumped at the chance. I am also fortunate to be an ambassador for my university in addition to being a creator which means I try to grow our community with more creators, or writers.

Odyssey has come to be a strong, trending site for young adults to share their thoughts and views on topics. Creators write about their feelings, places in life, experiences, struggles, and viewpoints. If you're interested in developing yourself and out to try something new, go to https://muse.theodysseyonline.com/apply to learn more about how you can join the community!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
