Whether you're home for the summer or not you probably have the opportunity to catch a movie. Summer nights are the perfect time to go catch a movie with friends, or someone cute. So, why not be able to watch your movie from the back of a pickup? Drive-in movies have been around since our parents were kids, and though they are a dying breed they're not any less fun now than they used to be. There's so many reasons, but I'm gonna name the best four to get you to the drive-in:
1. Two Movies For The Price Of One.
Going to the drive-in means you're going to be there for awhile. Why? Because you're most likely going to see a double-feature. So once the first movie ends another will follow it. Double features are great for a couple of reasons: one, you get to see two movies in a row, two, you get to pay the same (possibly less) than you would at the regular theatre just to see one movie. I would suggest bringing lots of snacks, which leads me to my next point.
2. You're Not Stuck In A Movie Theater.
You can't talk in the movie without people shushing you and checking your phone is a big no-no. But, because you're at the drive-ins where you literally drive in to the movie you can do basically whatever you want. You can bring in Chipotle without feeling like a bad person. You can talk to your friends, or laugh at a part you're not supposed to. You can snapchat that hot guy you've been talking to. All because you're not stuck in a box with a bunch of people. You're out in the open and able to enjoy the weather and snuggle up with blankets.
3. The Weather.
No one likes sitting through the summer heat, which is why everyone goes to the cold and dark movie theaters to enjoy some of the cold air. Summer nights are by far my favorite nights, the air cools down but isn't cold, it's comfortable. Feel free to soak in air that hasn't been recycled while you're at the drive-in. Also, feel free to bundle up and/or snuggle up if it does happen to be a little chilly.
4. It's Old School.
Get ready for some serious nostalgia. If you go with your parents they might turn in to little kids again. But mostly, the drive-in takes you back to a time before technology took over our lives. I mean, you get the sound for the movie through a little box or your radio. This is a great way to unplug for a night, enjoy your surroundings and your movies and the people you're with instead of sitting on your phone all night. Enjoy the finer things in life by simplifying it, take a step back in time in order to enjoy the movies and people you're with.
