4 Movies You Need To See Before Turning 21

Throughout the years, I've seen many movies that I hold near and dear to my heart. As I get older, I realize that there are only a few of those movies that have taught me lessons that I can carry with me throughout all my years. Below is a list of four movies that have taught me valuable lessons that I never want to forget!

1. "The Breakfast Club."

This classic film directed by none other than John Hughes summarizes the common high school experience in just an hour and a half. Critics and fans alike often consider "The Breakfast Club" to be the greatest film about high school life. "The Breakfast Club" is most definitely a movie to watch by your 21st birthday! If you've graduated, this movie will trigger all your memories from high school; both good and bad. And if you've yet to graduate, then "The Breakfast Club" will help you understand the importance of getting to know some new people.

2. "Almost Famous."

This semi-autobiographical story about the exciting life of a band on tour was based on the life of the Director of the film: Cameron Crowe. Crowe's experience touring with legendary bands like The Allman Brothers Band, Led Zeppelin and Lynyrd Skynyrd as a teenage writer for Rolling Stone inspired the movie's curious plot. The cast is full of full of younger versions of our favorite actors and actresses from today, adding to the movie's sizable interest. Actors like Kate Hudson, Zooey Deschanel, Jay Baruchel and even Jimmy Fallon all appear in the film as true fans of rock and roll. "Almost Famous" will remind you that no matter how old you are, you can still achieve greatness.

3. "Good Will Hunting."

This is a truly inspiring movie, written by none other than Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, about an undiscovered genius. "Goodwill Hunting" exemplifies the unveiling of true untapped potential, motivating all of its viewers to do the same. The film was released in the late '90s leaving current college students with only a few more years to let the film inspire them to reach their full potential.

4. "Now and Then."

"Now and Then" is a story about four young friends growing up in a small town over the course of an exciting summer. The movie flashes back to the girls and their experiences during their summer before seventh grade. It takes you on an adventure you wish you could have had with your best friends, and probably still do. "Now and Then" is the perfect movie to watch with your closest friends before you all turn 21.

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
