We've all had those New Years resolutions that we're not sure how to follow through with. We try it for a few days and then we just get tired of trying. Here are a few tips and a few things to remember while you're trying to accomplish those resolutions.
1. Get over that ex of yours.
We all talk about our "annoying" and "asshole" of an ex-boyfriend/girlfriend that we have, but we never are able to finally get away from them. Well, this is your time to shine. It's time to buckle down and focus on more important things than just them or trying to fix that flame that has gone out long ago. We are at that age now that it's time to look for someone that we can maybe see ourselves with for a long time or the rest of our lives, not just a significant other that treats you like crap! The first step to accomplishing this resolution is to focus more on yourself than on fixing the problems you have with them. Make sure you're happy and spend time with friends and focus on building stronger relationships with your parents. Before you know it, they will no longer be a thought in your mind. It's time to give up on trying to make something work that obviously isn't working anymore.
2. Get that hot bod.
Spring break is coming soon and we all want to be ready to show off our new bikini bods that we've been working so hard for since the New Year has come around. I'm here to tell you that we are all beautiful and you don't need to have that hot bod just impress someone else. If it's truly your goal, though, try to find some friends that motivate you and push you to be your best and work for it. There are so many people out there that will hit you up 24/7 to ensure that you're making it to the gym and that they are there with you to push you to your full potential. Going to the gym once a day for an hour or so will not only improve how you look but will also improve on how you feel.
3. Save money.
Let's be real, all college students tell people that they're broke because we need to learn how to budget better. I'm here to tell you that you don't need that late night McDonald's run at 2:00 a.m. after a night of partying. One: it's unhealthy for you and two: your bank account will not thank you for that purchase. Although the dining hall is not necessarily your favorite place to eat, it does help you save up that extra cash that you can use for something else—like new clothes or even take that girl out who you've been crushing on for a while. We all need to stop spending money on things that won't benefit us in the future and is just a silly "in the moment" purchase.
4. Get better grades
There comes a point in all of our lives when we are tired of having those awful grades and want to do well for once. It's time to stop partying too much on the weekends and during the week and maybe stay in and do your work that may be due the following week. It's also time to stop putting off those large term papers until the very last minute and hoping that you do well on it. The key to better grades is to apply yourself which may seem very hard but it isn't at all! Time management and going to the library or locking yourself in your room for a couple of hours in order to study can make the biggest difference in a test score or even your homework grade. I know you can do it!
