Most normal people only watch Christmas movies during the holiday season between Thanksgiving and Christmas. With such a short time frame it’s hard to find the very best movies to invest your time in watching. To make it worse, not every good holiday movie is on Netflix. and the short selection of Christmas shows are usually too cheesy to get through. Luckily, I have personally found the four best Christmas movies on Netflix. They don’t suck and you won’t have to spend more time picking out a movie than you spend watching it.
1. Love Actually
Very Christmas-y, popular, and well known. This film is filled with stars and British accents, including Alan Rickman (aka Snape) for any "Harry Potter" fans. It follows multiple love stories between varieties of people including the prime minister and his secretary, two co-workers, a newlywed couple and the groom’s best friend, along with others. Basically, if you like Christmas and a good love story, you need to watch this movie now.
2. Serendipity
This lovely movie is all about fate, destiny, true love, and soul mates. One of my personal favorites, it centers around a magical encounter between two perfect strangers. The woman, Sarah, leaves it up to fate and the universe to decide whether or not they should be together. Seven years later, both are engaged to be married but desperately willing fate to lead them to the other person. A must-see for free spirits, new romantics, and anyone who loves holiday magic.
3. While You Were Sleeping
Sandra Bullock stars in this romcom, which is really all you need to know. She plays a transit worker who saves a mysterious stranger from being hit by a train. He goes into a coma and his family believes she is his fiancée. Too scared to tell them the truth, the movie captures her life as she finds a family to fill the place of the one she no longer has. This story takes place during the holiday season with an ending that trumps even the best fairytales.
4. A Holiday Engagement
This one is silly and sappy. Perfect to laugh at and unwind without ever having to worry that it will end on a sour note. The main character, Hillary, hires a fake fiancé to bring home during the holidays after her real- life fiancé gets cold feet. Spoiler: He’s charming and single, just like her. If you’re anything like me, you will love this lighthearted movie because it combines two of the best things: weddings and the holidays.
