Whether you like or not living in a small town can be a blessing and yet a curse. Everyone is like family, but everybody knows your business. With a more than love over hate feeling, I wouldn't trade a single day in small town USA.

Signs You Live In A Small Town:

1.You have had the same hairdresser your entire life.

2.You know everyone that you graduated with.

3.Your term of "traffic" is getting behind a tractor.

4.Grocery stores turn into thirty minute conversations with everyone and their brother.

5.Police scanners spill all of the gossip.

6.You get a personal phone call from the librarian about paying a fine or returning a book.

7.When someone new moves in town everybody knows and expects to see someone new in school.

8.Shopping at a mall requires more than an hour of being in a vehicle, maybe two hours.

9.Hanging out in store parking lots is how many spend their Friday night.

10.The main hangout spot in the summer is the lake.

11.Teachers expect you to be like your older siblings. Good or bad.

12.Tea is sweet.

13.Boys work on a farm and girls babysit to earn cash.

14.Camouflage is worn all year round along with camo crocs and cowboy boots.

15."You're from where?" is a common question that is asked.

16.We don't have many choices to eat.

17.You can get across town in two minutes.

18.Mainly every shop is locally owned.

19.Trucks are lifted with plenty of decals and many trucks have a dog box in it.

20.You are nicknamed by your family members, "What're you up to Lil Mary/Lil Card?"

21.Sports are a big deal in high school.

22.A business is passed on by family members.

23.The radio is normally set on 98.3 and 105.1. Tradeo is a thing.

24.Rodeos, Lakefest, Bike Fairs, and the Autumn Jubliee happen on the same day every year.

25.If it doesn't walk or talk, monogram it.

26.Cows are on every corner or in front of your house.

27.You purchase meat from the butcher shop rather than the grocery store.

28.Y'all is used in everybody's vocabulary.

29.There are about four main churches everyone attends.

30.Cotillion, AG, and Band are also popular in high school.

31.Your fruit comes from the produce stand or AG students at school.

32. FFA is a huge deal in high school.

33.Senior skip day isn't a designated day, but every teacher knows that no one normally goes to school.

34. Deaths affect the entire community.

35. You see everybody and their brother in between the two stoplights in town.

37. It takes you thirty minutes to find a decent restaurant for a date.

38. It takes 30 minutes to find the actual butter at grandma's house.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
