35 Thoughts You Definitely Have When You Are Missing College

Mom, call the doctor. I'm college-sick

35 Thoughts You Definitely Have When You Are Missing College
Kristie Jacobs

It’s like homesickness but almost 10 times worse. After the first few days of being home, you quickly start to miss your friends, the routine of going to class and your weekend plans. You suddenly crave the dining hall food as horrible as it was and don’t even question it. Maybe it wasn’t even the food, it was more of sitting around, people-watching with your closest friends laughing. Let's not forget to mention having food-plan money to buy you all the coffee you desired. You mope around texting your group chat that consists of your best college friends about how much you miss them and counting down the days until you return. August isn’t right around the corner and, if you’re like me, most of your friends are at least 10 hours away. So here are a few thoughts we all probably had due to college-sickness:

1. How long have I been home? Two weeks.

2. It's only been five days… How?

3. *Texts group chat* I miss you guys so much, is it August yet??

4. No seriously, when is it August? Oh..it's only May... Yay...

5. Maybe going to visit my friends won’t hurt…

6. *Books flight* *text sgroupchat*

7. Why is no one in this town partying?

8. Oh...

9. Okay, i’ll just hang out with my dogs.

10. You know… I kind of miss going to class.

11. I need a job.

12. I miss my friends.

13. Yes, *so and so*, I love college so much, I’d rather be there.

14. No, seriously I do.

15. I wonder if my friends are this bored.

16. Why aren’t they answering my texts?

17. I’m so broke.

18. Maybe I should apply to jobs.

19. I could clean my room...

20. *Goes on Facebook and posts status* Hello friends and family, I’m home from college and can start babysitting for date nights if you need me!

21. Five minutes have passed… Why is no one asking me to watch their kids?

22. Maybe they saw all my partying pictures...

23. I’m a good person, right? *Texts group chat asking*

24. I miss my one-night-stands.

25. Maybe I should hit them up and see what they’re doing?

26. Nah, they haven’t texted me so I shouldn’t text them...

27. Why do I care?

28. Yes Netflix, I am still watching.

29. Should I go to the gym?

30. *Parents decide to play 50 questions*

31. I could really use Rent-a-Puppy right now...

32. Even though I have my own dog for free here.

33. I really need to go back to college...

34. I miss my friends.

35. Three months until I leave for college… Thank God.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
