35 Thoughts College Athletes Have While Traveling

College athletics comes with a lot of commitment. Committing to practice every day, workouts, and being a good teammate. But with that commitment comes the long hours of traveling. On a bus. With the same people. Every weekend. As much as we love it, in the moment the time lags on so long that many thoughts come to our minds… some we share out loud, some we don’t. But here are some typical things an athlete might think up while traveling.

1. How long have we been in here?

2. I wonder if this counts as our day off?

3. Oh my god, what is that smell?

4. What if it's me?

5. "Who farted?!"

6. Honestly, it's probably all our body odors combined. Gross.

7. Are we close?

8. I wonder what everyone is listening to right now?

9. Maybe I should take a nap... it will make time go by faster.

10. I hate this song.

11. Why is it so hot in here?

12. I wonder if anyone has to go to the bathroom...

13. I don't want to be the one that asks.

14. "Coach, I have to pee."

15. I'm going to get on Twitter for a little bit.

16. *Finds stupid picture... sends in group message*

17. Yes, got the whole bus laughing let's go.

18. Alright, everyone shut up now I want to sleep.

19. Wonder if we'll get snacks anytime soon.

20. Oh no, I really have to go to the bathroom.

21. "Coach... I REALLY have to pee."

22. *Internally cries as we drive past the rest stop*

23. Why isn't he considerate of my bodily functions? Does he want his team to die?

24. Maybe if I cried...

25. No come on, be strong.

26. We played pretty well today, I think we will have the day off tomorrow.

27. "Anyone have food?"

28. I know they do.. they just want it for themselves. Selfish.

29. I spend a lot of time with these humans... wow.

30. Definitely should have brought a pillow.

31. I have so much homework to get back to.

32. Maybe we should never get off this bus.

33. If I could switch lives with one of my teammates who would it be?

34. Ugh, why is this team so talkative? Just shut up.

35. As much as I want to get off, I wouldn't want to be here with anyone else.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
