34 Signs You Went To St. Anthony's High School

St. Anthony's High School in South Huntington, New York, with it's student-teacher population of roughly 2,500, is arguably a small community of its own. Having been around for many, many years, it's hard to go through life without hearing approximately 50 times, "Oh I know someone who went there." After fours years of mostly dreading school, thinking you can't wait to leave, you slowly realize it's going to be a tough adjustment to live without this place. It really is a high school unlike any other, and in a Friar's opinion, the best high school in the world. Here's 34 signs you went to St. Anthony's High School.

1. The sound of a cow bell doesn't really phase you anymore.

2. "Top button buttoned, ties up, belts and shoes, shirts tucked, skirts unrolled, blazers on, move it to class."

3. Colorful hair scrunchies, colored socks and bows were girls' only small ways to add some self expression to their outfit.

4. Having green and yellow passes come out of every pocket and compartment you own.

5. Leaving free five minutes early to wait in the breezeway for the bell.

6. Clogging your shoes to free your feet from your hideous "sensible" shoes.

7. Being lost on dress-down without your blazer.

8. Anxiously awaiting the day when you could sit on the top bleacher during pep rally.

9. "WE WANT STEP TEAM."

10. Good panini day, enough said.

11. Sprinting away when you see the deans to save your iced coffee's life.

12. "Forgetting" what day you had guidance.

13. "Is it GH or HG first?"

14. Walking in on a secret staircase hookup. Bye.

15. One fight was the talk of the school for the next week.

16. Wearing a gold tie before actually becoming an upperclassmen.

17. Posting your typical "Bye, bye, black skirt" pic when you become a junior.

18. Starting summer roughly three weeks before your public school friends, and if you're a senior, one month before them.

19. Having such a big class made parties more exclusive to friend groups rather than the whole grade being there like public school parties.

20. The morning announcements consisting of five to seven congratulations for all the wins for the sports teams within that season.

21. As a senior, if you didn't get there before 7:45, kiss your prime spot goodbye.

22. And if you had first free, you might as well park at Walt Whitman Mall.

23. Speaking of the mall, walking there for Tropical Smoothie before you could drive was so routine.

24. NHS hours killed your vibe, along with chorus concerts.

25. "Lord When You Came," especially the Spanish verse, was your sh*t during school mass. #turnup.

26. Teacher: "Let's begin." *Does the sign of the cross.*

27. Your homeroom was either one of the chillest parts of your day or you couldn't wait to escape.

28. Leaving your blazer/sweater vest in your friend's locker because you forgot to take yours off, and you can't go back now.

29. Seasoned fries.

30. To you the caf was ordinary, but when other people heard about your selection their jaw dropped.

31. That one teacher you could go to to hangout during free, borrow staples, or leave your sports bag with them.

32. You knew people from Queens and also South Hampton.

33. Other people talking about their awesome new sports field or student center made you chuckle. That's cute.

34. "Classmates for four years, Friars Forever."

It's a love/hate relationship for sure, but it will always be in your heart and part of who you are!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
