Hindustan Times

The Academy Awards were Sunday night on February 26th, making it the 89th Academy Awards show. The whole show lasted quite a long time, leading to all of us being very tired on Monday morning. The 89th Academy Awards were one for the books and kept us awake the whole time. Jimmy Kimmel took the lead as the host of the show, keeping us laughing. We can all look up who won what awards the next morning, but we can't relive the little things that make the Academy Awards what they are. The 89th Academy Awards go down in the books as one of the best of all times. Why? Because they were more relatable than ever. . . and plenty other reasons.

1. Watching Justin Timberlake's opening of "Can't Stop The Feeling" made us all swoon. He made an entrance.

2. Watching Jimmy Kimmel lift Sunny Pawar from "Lion" was legendary.

2. Watching Michael J. Fox walk across the stage with Seth Rogan despite Parkinson's Disease couldn't stop making us smile.

3. Blue A. C. L. U. Ribbons took over the red carpet, representing the American Civil Liberties Union.

4. Lin Manuel's reaction to Seth Rogan singing "The Schuyler Sisters" from "Hamilton" was precious.

5. Gael Garcia Bernal's remark after presenting at the Oscars was what we were all thinking.

6. We all balled our eyes out at the amount of actors that were in the "In Memoriam" video.

7. Viola Davis's speech hit us hard.

8. Watching 16 year old, Auli'i Cravalho, sing gave us goose bumps.

9. Alessandro Bertolazzi dedicated his award to immigrants, being an Italian one himself.

10. We all wanted to be the woman that got kissed and complimented by Ryan Gosling.

11. Denzel Washington married off and took a picture with this couple.

12. Meryl Streep won another Oscar and no one was surprised.

13. Watching the honored Oscar recipients made your heart melt (Jackie Chan, Anne Coates, Lynn Stalmaster, Frederick Wiseman).

14. Chrissy Teigen and John Legend were #relationshipgoals.

15. Jimmy Kimmel straight up tweeted our president, Donald Trump, live on stage.

16. That awkward moment created by co-stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. . .

17. Taraji P. Henson freaked out as she caught candy from the sky.

18. Jennifer Aniston was so genuine as she watched her fans say hi and gave her sunglasses away.

19. Jimmy Kimmel kept spreading straight up truth.

20. Ryan Gosling and other celebrities read Hate Tweets about themselves.

21. Sara Bareilles made us all cry as she performed "In Memoriam".

22. John Legend gave us the chills as he sang his "La La Land" hits.

23. Sting performed "The Empty Chairs" and everyone stopped what they were doing.

24. Kate McKinnon and Jason Bateman made us all laugh as they presented awards.

25. Benj Pasek reacted like any other normal person would when winning the Oscar.

26. Taraji P. Henson asked if Octavia Spencer would share her cookies.

27. Jimmy Kimmel took control of the orchestra, playing over Matt Damon, who was trying to present an Oscar.

28. Emma Stone won the Oscar for Actress in a Leading Role for "La La Land", along with wearing a Planned Parenthood pin on her dress.

29. The Best Picture Oscar was given to "La La Land" and we all cried because it tied for the most nominated movie in history.

30. We all had a heart attack as we realized something was wrong on stage.

31. Oh, wait. . ."Moonlight" won Best Picture at The 89th Oscars. We all cried for "La La Land" having to get off the stage. . .

but applauded because everyone took it like a pro and "Moonlight" was also phenomenal.

32. We all cringed as people were trying to explain and just wanted the moment to be over.

33. The 89th Oscars only showed us that even actors and actresses in Hollywood are only human.

If you didn't watch the Academy Awards, I don't know what your excuse was. It wasn't a good one.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
