30 Thoughts You Have About Moving Back to School

As the summer draws to a close, students all over the country are beginning to pack up and ship off to college. While leaving the comfort of home can be challenging, knowing that you’re moving away for college, (which is known to be some of the best years of your life) makes it a little easier to leave. Whether you’re an incoming freshman or a fifth year senior, the thoughts leading up to move-in day always tend to be the same.

1. I seriously can not contain my excitment over going back to school

Please get me out of this boring suburb and back to college where I belong.

2. Ugh, but there's so much to pack

3. How is this all going to fit in the car?

4. Should I pack all of my crop tops?

Yes. The answer is ALWAYS yes to crop tops.

5. Oh no, I am SO not ready for summer to end though

6. Who am I kidding it's collge how could I not be ready to back?

7. Should I look cute on move-in day or just wear sweats?

lol who am I? Sweats for the win!

8. Ew, cafeteria food again.

9. It's probably won't be as bad as I remember right?

Wrong. So, so wrong.

10. We better be going out when I get there

11. At last, no more curfew!

Im FREEEEEE!

12. Now that I'll be drinking beer everyweekend does this mean I have to start working out?

13. I don't think I've ever stepped foot in the gym

14. Do we even have a gym?

15. Why are my books costing me more than tuition?

16. I think I might actually use them this year

Haha, funny joke!

17. No I swear- I'll use them to study for the final or something...

18. Syllabus week is about to be LIT

Ew, why am I still saying lit?

19. If my professors make me do work on the first day I'm getting up and leaving

20. It's okay to skip the first class right?

Yeah- TOTALLY okay.

21. Ugh, I am really not feeling sharing my room

22. But if you think about it, technically it's like a sleepover everynight with your BFF's

Did someone say slumber party?

23. But if my roommate thinks I'm cleaning up after her she is batsh** crazy

24. The greatest day of the year is here, move-in day!!

Actually move-in is probably one of the worst days of the year.

25. Let the road trip begin

26. God why is there so much traffic?

27. People are so STUPID when they drive.

28. Ah, here at last

29. *see's roommate* *intense high pitched screaming*

30. It's going to be a good year

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
