Asher Roth loved college, but what exactly makes college the best four five years of your life? And what else do you learn at college besides your basic schooling?
- Surround yourself with people you want to be like
- 50 cent corn dog days at Sonic are treasured
- It’s ok to go to Sonic 4-5 times that day
- It’s okay not to please everyone
- You need to make time for yourself. You can fall into the routine of school and extracurricular activities and forget to make “me” time
- But don’t have so much “me” time that you never turn off Netflix and leave your room.
- Join an organization that you are passionate about. Love "Harry Potter?" Join the Harry Potter Alliance Club.
- Don’t worry about what other people think of you
- It’s okay to change your major
- Multiple times
- You need to start sticking up for yourself
- Take your classes seriously, because unlike freshman year, you WILL use this stuff later in life
- Tell your parents if you fail a class
- Start networking. You need references when you start applying for jobs
- Go on Spring Break. You won’t get one in the real world
- You’re probably going to drink. When you do, always have a DD before you go out
- It’s ok to stay in and watch movies on a Friday night
- Apply for your dream internship/job. The worst they can say is “no”
- Go explore your college town
- Your best friends in high school may not be your best friends in college. It’s okay people change and grow apart. But always remember where you started
- Call your parents once a week
- They miss you more than you miss them
- You’re not alone
- Or “single forever”
- Go on dates
- Fall in love
- End a relationship if you don’t see a future with them
- Make a best friend of the opposite sex
- Energy drinks are your friend. Also, your enemy (i.e. kidney stones)
- You are having the time of your life. Take it all in
