If you're lucky like me and have an older brother or two who happen to have, even though you will never admit this out loud (but in article format it's okay cause you know they don't read your articles), a slightly (now, I stress slightly) above average IQ and have already been through the college ringer, you will most definitely find yourself calling them from time to time throughout your own college career.

This happened to me last week, and many other occasions with different events, when my roommates and I were getting ready for our day and our light in our bathroom decided to go POP! and our place smelled like smoke.

I called one of my older brothers because he worked as a maintenance man and helped build a house, so I figured he'd know a thing or two about electrical things. If not, my other brother was going to be my line of defense since he works for an electrical company. So I knew I was in good hands with one or the other.

But anyways, my dorm is fine, my roommates and I are fine it was just another manic Monday for us. After reflection of the events that took place that day, I realized that I found myself calling my brothers a lot. So my muse for this week is my older brothers. So for all the younger siblings out there, this one is for you...or maybe not...I don't know what your relationships look like.

1. "Hey I have a 5-page paper due in three hours and I did none of the reading."

First, and foremost, the number one thing that I have learned while away at college is that my brothers are idiots. But, because they are idiots, they have ingenious ways of assignment hacks that make you feel stupid because you never thought of that and can make an assignment go from nine hours of work into one- which makes them geniuses.

2. "So...my toilet is clogged..."

Now, this is only relatable to those who have suite style dorms, so sorry for those who have to share a bathroom with your entire floor. But your brothers got your back whenever there is an issue that needs fixing around the dorm. They'll walk you through step by step on how to fix things without any lecture on how you should know these things...most of the time.

3. "I'm homesick, but I don't want to admit it so I came up with some random excuse to call you."

Being away at college is fun and all, but sometimes you miss your old suitemate(s). Plus, they're your brother so they won't get too emotional on you and just pick on you just like the good ol' days.

All in all, brothers are the bomb dot com. So go ahead, call yo bro and annoy the heck out of them like how us younger siblings do best.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
