3 treks you must do in Ladakh

Ladakh is paradise for mountain lovers. When it comes to trekking in India, Ladakh comes on the top. There are many trekking routes and options for adventure enthusiasts and it caters something exciting and challenging for every thrill seeker. The best time for trekking is from May to October. Here are the 3 best treks in Ladakh that you must do when you visit the region.

Markha valley trek

One of the most popular treks in Ladakh is the Markha valley trek. The trek starts from Chilling and it takes 6 days to reach Hemis where the trek ends. On day 5, you will climb up to the Kongmaru La pass, which is the highest pass on the Markha valley trek at an altitude of 5,260 metres above sea level. The trek covers Ladakh's picturesque villages, stark landscapes, high mountains scenery, Ladakhi culture and lifestyle. The trek goes through the Hemis National Park, a protected area home to Himalayan bears, wolves, foxes and elusive snow leopards. Spotting the snow leopard in the summer months is very difficult. The best chance to see this big cat is in winter when it comes down to the valley.

Sham valley trek

The Sham valley trek, often nicknamed "baby trek", is perfect for the beginners and people who are not ready for a long and tough trek. It is one of the easy treks in Ladakh which can be done in 3 days at all seasons. Trekkers walk only few hours a day but you pass through some steep slopes. This trek takes you through nice villages, you get to visit old and beautiful monasteries along the way and also an opportunity to communicate with local people while staying at their homes (homestays) and having meals together, a great way to experience culture and history of Ladakh.

Nubra valley trek

The Nubra valley trek is a wonderful trek that takes you through the great mountain sceneries, wilderness and amazing trail. It starts from Phyang village near Leh and ends 5 days later at Hunder in the Nubra valley. This trail is less travelled thus this place is highly unexplored which offers some of the best raw beauty of the nature. The trek is bit challenging during the ascent to the Lasermo La pass, the highest point during this trek at an altitude of 5,438 metres above sea level.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
