As summer unfortunately comes to an end, we are left to reflect on the past few months. While some of us traveled the world, took summer classes, or had amazing internships, many of us just stayed home for the summer. We all start the summer with lofty goals for our academic break, but how many of these items do we actually cross off our to-do lists?
1. Project Summer Body
I'm sure I'm not the only one who started the summer with plans to hit the gym every day and eat healthy to accomplish the perfect back-to-school body. Just imagine showing up at school looking the best you ever have. But, with two weeks of summer left, I can count on one hand the number of times I actually followed through with this. There's always the start of the school year, right?
2. Reading the Bestsellers
Remember that long list of books you wanted to read this summer? I'm sure I'm not the only one who bought tons of New York Times bestsellers and books from Oprah's recommended list. Yeah, well, you better get going with that because summer's almost over. I had plans of sitting outside in the sun reading bestseller after bestseller. This plan worked - for about two weeks in June. Now, it's August and my stack of remaining books is looking a bit dusty.
3. Work and Save Money for the School Year
We all understand the pains of the typical broke college student, so summer is always a great time to work and save money for the following 8 months of fun. I was doing great with this task, but then I saw that adorable bathing suit that I just had to have! And then while I was getting the bathing suit, I found a cute sundress - it was on sale for $20! But then, of course, I needed a pair of shoes to go with the new addition to my wardrobe, and then an hour later, I had a shopping cart full of 15 items and all that money I saved? Haha. Maybe I'll just start saving tomorrow.
But, instead of making yourself sad by thinking about what you didn't do this summer, think about what you did do. Make memories with good friends? Check. Go to a concert? Check. Add to your resume? Hopefully.
As you get ready to head back to school, make a list of things you want to get done this semester.
