1. Golden Beach, Southwest Adirondack Region

Golden beach is located on Raquette Lake. This spot is truly a gem, offering 205 campsites to enjoy s'mores by your cozy campfire under the stars and a beautiful swimming beach this campground is very family friendly. Kayaking, a boat launch, showers, handicapped accessibilities, hiking and fishing are all available at Golden Beach. And of course, plenty of opportunities to view that gorgeous Adirondack sunset we all love with the company of the little critters who inhabit this campground.

2. Taughannock Falls State Park, Finger Lakes Region

Taughannock Falls, located near Cayuga Lake is not only a great day trip and an easy hike for all ages to enjoy but it also offers tent and cabin campsites. There is also a marina, canoe and kayak rentals, a boat launch, and a swimming beach. There are many different trails around the whole gorge. Providing many different views of this spectacular waterfall. It is definitely a piece of this Earth you won't want to miss.

3. Brown Tract Pond, Southwest Adirondack Region

I have been visiting Brown Tract Pond since I was very little; it has been a part of our family for generations. This beauty is tucked away in the Adirondacks, just off Uncas Road. This campground holds 90 campsites that offer the utmost of privacy. Well-forested and relaxing, this is truly a get away. Tent and RV sites are available as well as canoeing, boating, fishing, kayaking, swimming, bicycling, and hiking. After a long day of these activities it is just a short 2 miles into the town of Raquette lake to visit the general store where you can enjoy ice cream, fresh baked goods and a sunset view along the boat launch.

In this life it is so important to stop and enjoy the little things, especially the ones that are given to us by Mother Nature herself. Remember to appreciate all that is around you at every moment and to try not to get distracted with all that is happening around us...always look up.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
