Amy Poehler is my idol, and she should probably be yours too. Here's why:
She's hilarious.
We know her best as Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation. However, her IMDb page has a plethora of comedic parts we may have forgotten she played. For instance, remember Mrs. George in Mean Girls? Yep, that was Amy Poehler.
She's real.
She's not your stereotypical supermodel looking actress. She's gorgeous, obviously, but in a much more natural way. She's confident in who she is without coming across as fake. When asked, "What advice would you give to a young woman with body issues?" she responds, "The advice that I would give you would be when things get dark, when you feel really crappy about yourself...sometimes a good way to help yourself is to have some gratitude...we are all different... The earlier you learn that you should focus on what you have and not obsess about what you don't have, the happier you will be." (full response here).
She's smart.
She's not just Leslie Knope smart, she's real life smart. She even co-created a website http://amysmartgirls.com that empowers teen girls to become intelligent, creative, and focused individuals. The site includes articles on positive change, giving back to your community, and being the best version of yourself.
