Snow, hot chocolate, surprise proposals and Christmas carols along with sub zero temperatures provide a perfect excuse to curl up on the couch with a blanket or with some friends and watch a Christmas movie.
After I took my last final at Youngstown State University for fall semester, I couldn't wait to go home and start my purge of Christmas movies, from "Christmas with the Kranks" to "It's a Wonderful Life."
Christmas movies are some of my absolute favorite movies to watch- from the classics to the more modern. There are three movies in particular that I absolutely love and will watch over and over again until my heart is content.
1. Miracle on 34th Street
This movie is particularly my favorite because this is a Christmas classic that I grew up with. in 1994 Mara Wilson captured the hearts of her audience as she set out on a journey to prove Santa Claus played by Richard Attenborough exists after claims were filed that he was an impostor. Although she faces many obstacles and people who were biased to her opinion, she pressed on.
As a little girl myself at the time, I was surprised how clever she was at being able to come up with a plan to convince her mother that he really did exist.
As she got a step closer to solving the mystery each of us got a step closer to loving the well-rounded actress in 1994 and for many years ahead.
2. Four Christmases
Let's fast forward 14 years to the period of time where people can relate to visiting all four parents in one day just like Kate and Brad in this family friendly comedy.
Between you and me, If i had a family like either of theirs I wouldn't say no to escaping on a vacation to a hidden island for the holiday.
Audiences are given the whirlwind experience of four different family personalities from Brads brother Dallas played by the famous country singer Tim Mcgraw and Kate's sister played by Kristen Chenoweth.
Each house is filled with one thing: love and understanding in each circumstance.
If you haven't seen it, go to your local video store or find it online. I won't get offended if you stop reading this to go get it.
You're still here? Aw, you are so nice.
3. A Christmas Kiss
Are you guys read for my favorite Christmas movie of all time?
Good because I saved the best for last.
I came upon this movie when I got on Netflix because I was bored and wanted something good to watch. I had no intention of even liking the movie, but as the quote says "One kiss can change everything" I had to check it out and I wasn't disappointed.
This movie not only brings the thrill of romance during the Christmas season, but it also presents the challenge of choosing love over work.
Striving designer Wendy Walton incidentally kisses her boss' boyfriend after the elevator they are both in malfunctions.
We then follow her on her journey, spending days with him after discovering he isn't exactly available. Walton is given the task of decorating Adam Hughes house.
Girls who watch this movie will love and hate Hughes at the same time as he doesn't realize who Walton actually is until well into the movie, but I won't spoil it for you.
After the movies end and blankets are folded, what happens next when Christmas actually arrives? Check out the next story to see.
