The second half of the second semester is upon us, aka "the come-up." Why the come-up? This is because it is now the time where everyone decides to get their shit together because they have to. Personally, I think it's the worst and best time of the semester. It is the worst time because you hate yourself and go through so many stages of self-loathing due to the fact that you slacked all semester, and now that you've seen your midterm grades, you realize you're f****d! On the bright side, summer is literally five weeks away! Everyone say it with me: YAAAAAY! Here are the stages of the come-up.
1. Spring Break forever!
During this stage, your body is feeling good, and so are you. You are tan, you partied so hard during spring break that you forgot you have actual responsibilities, and the world is yours.
2. Real life hits you.
You have to go back to school after all of this fun. Then, you get back and ... BAM! Five tests, an essay, and midterms are in!
3. Self-reflection, a.k.a. self-loathing
You are looking in the mirror at this point, or the reflection that you can see on your computer screen (that is also playing your favorite Netflix show) and asking, "How did I get here?" What happened to that 4.0 goal? What happened to balancing your social life and school? djdkfjdsandkfnvhiew -- that's what happened.
4. "I can do this!"
After a long week of self-loathing, you start to see a glimmer of light at the end of that very dark and very long tunnel. You start believing you really might have time to get your shit together!
5. Reality
You realize it's kinda too late to get your act together... so you try to get at least some of it together.
6. Finals week!
By now you have basically given up but still come to class to get those answers to the study guide. You end up passing and, honestly, you are content with that. And then, you make false promises about getting a 4.0 next semester!
